The forecourt of TCL Chinese Theatre has been one of the most popular free attractions since the 1920s. Now fans from around the world compare their hands and feet to those of stars past and present.
So many people looking at the outside makes it nearly impossible to get inside to actually see a movie . Most of the theaters are upstairs, though the ticket booth is on the street level .
How anyone can watch a movie is beyond me. It took all my self-control to tear my eyes away from the ornate ceiling.
Famous for the celebrity hand and footprints displayed in the courtyard , this venue remains a working theater with regular movie screenings.
Inside The Chinese Theatre is a living monument of Hollywood, both new and old. For anyone in love with cinema this is a theatre you have to experience at least once in your life
Hollywood can be filled with such fake facades but, some venues stand the test of time and can exceed expectations. This is what The Chinese Theatre is, even almost a century later!
Best place to see a huge blockbuster like Star Wars or a Marvel film . Amazing sound, and an epic screen.
A must see tourist destination in Hollywood. Look for classic movie stars' names on the sidewalks, visit in the evenings for a chance to see an opening film premier.
The tour really rocks. You get to step out of the heat an enjoy one of the most beautiful theaters in the US. They play movies in the theater also, so make sure you see a move there too. LIVE LA.
Great location, a touristic attraction more than a move theatre. Quite big and well known for premiers. Close to other touristic attractions . A must-see spot, don't miss it.

Biggest movie theater ever. Definitely a must see when you're out here. Pop in for a movie too if you have the time!
Did a tour . Nice history. Did you know many parts of the interior were actually brought in from China, as we're the lion statues on the outside.
Don't take the tour , for 7 dlls more you get to see the place plus a movie . The place is gorgeous and ira the biggest iMax in the world. Also singing in the rain was filmed here.
Everything about the theater was wonderful. Great sound and seating. Dramatic and spectacular. Hollywood memrobilla featuring costumes and props worn in past movies . Shall I go on?
Tour was great, the history behind it was great too!
It's is a fun outing. You can have a tour of the theater and this have costumes on display. It is a part of LA culture and a must for tourists .
Seeing an IMAX movie ? Sit in row K (first row in front of the aisle splitting the back of the theater from the front), toward the middle of the screen. Best picture and sound.
Amazing cinema and it’s relatively cheap for an IMAX.
Love the full bar in the lobby. You can take your cocktails into the screening with you. Especially love their 2 for $10 happy hour . :)
Really neat place to see. All the hand prints you could imagine. Get here early, give consideration to shadows and previous day weather, it will effect your pictures.
I saw "Guardians of The Galaxy" IMAX 3D. I was amazed with the excellent sound and video quality. Go see your favorite movie . Really incredible Theatre!
Classic theater ambiance with an IMAX screen . You MUST see a 3D movie here! Perfection! A nice break away from the craziness outside :)
So funny to see all these names of the big screen , accompanied by their hands and or feet in the concrete. It's just the whole ambience, cool place.
This theater opened May 18, 1927 with the premiere of Cecil B. DeMille's film 'The King of Kings'. The Academy Awards were held here in 1944, 1945, & 1946. It was declared a historic landmark in 1968.
Iconic theather, must go see a movie there!
A really old theater that you should visit inside to watch a movie or just to look...
Really enjoyed this. When your on LA for your first time you have to do all the tourist stuff
The seismic upgrade was accomplished with the addition of a cast-in-place shear wall in the theatre and a shotcrete shear wall behind the movie screen in the fly tower. Read more
One of my favorite theaters in LA! Audience is always in a good mood and the IMAX screen is huuuuuuuge ????????
Buy tickets online and see a movie or get a tour of the most famous movie theater in the world. Or, go the cheap route and just admire the building and footprints out front.
It is here that you can compare their handprints with hands favorite celebrity, or see it live during the next movie premiere !
Located on the Historic Walk of Fame, this movie theater opened in 1927. Home to many movie premieres & 3 Academy Award presentations! See the famous Hollywood handprints !www.chinesetheatres.com
Pre-buy your tickets and pick them up in the kiosks on the way in. Soooooo much easier than standing in line on Hollywood Blvd.
The most gorgeous interior. Watching the 3d ax experience with fast-frame rate was incredible!
The ambiance is so good and the screen is so perfect, great theater
Fad-tastic impresario Grauman kept rolling with this 1927 landmark . Boasting an ornate exterior and hand/footprints of the stars, it has been a top tourist destination and premier site ever since.
Nice theatre, easy access from the Red Line , friendly staff too.
Opened in 1927, with a premiere of Cecil B. DeMille’s King of Kings.Marvel at the 30-foot dragon guarding the door.
Another must see for tourists & LA newbies. Fun tourist attraction !!
The parking isn't bad once you find it. Go on North Orange behind Kodak Theater and Chinese Theater and it'll be on the right side. Validation will take care of first 4 hrs with $1/hr afterwards
TCL Chinese Theatre, formerly Mann's Chinese Theatre, formerly Grauman's Chinese Theatre. Fact: The largest footprints there are from Tony the Wonder Horse.
if you're into Hollywood trivia and history, this is a must place to spend time in.
In contrast to Cinefamily, the Chinese cinema looks old but shows modern films . Out side they have the hand prints of famous people. These are surrounded by tourists … Thousands of them!!
When facing the exterior, go to your right to play on the musical stairs that lead up to Sweet, then go inside and make your own candy bar .
Somehow a hidden secret. Although the place is covered in tourists , people don't realize that it's an actual working movie theatre. See framed photos of Old Hollywood stars who've been there.
I was shocked when the seats started moving up and down. Clean theaters and an iconic location. Full bar is a plus.
The Official Maxim New Years Eve party is happening at the Chinese Theater this year. The first party here of it's kind. It's gonna be amazing. The imax screen is so big and the seats are super comfortable . What an iconic location to watch a movie .
