Laura Plantation

Constructed c.1820, the main house at Laura has a raised brick basement story and a briquette-entre-poteaux (brick between posts) upper floor. The house is special because of its Federal style interior woodwork and Norman roof truss.

If you want to visit a plantation I would recommend the Oak Alley one down the road . The Laura plantation is nice too, but not in as good of a shape as Oak Alley . Also no free walking around.

Tanya Williams

Not the prettiest plantation but the most intriguing and informative tour ! Ethan was a great tour guide and kept my attention the whole time. If you have to choose one plantation , choose this one!

RV

Wonderful plantation tour . Save money and drive yourself instead of using a tour bus company. If you can, ask for Stephen. His knowledge on the plantation is amazing.

Michael Rizzato

The tour is interesting and the staff is very knowledgable . However, it tells more about the family who used to run it then how the slaves were treated or life they had

Beth S.

Bizarre, beautiful, and haunting. Obligatory defensiveness when it comes to slavery, but the slave quarters speak for themselves.

Denette

Excellent tour ! This is a working plantation with quite the history. You can see where the slaves lived which is very sobering. Nice gift shop .

Colin Lee

Incredible visit and insight into a creole plantation . While less magnificent than oak valley, the tour at Laura is much better. Our tour guide was karen!

Praveen Padman

Rose is an exceptional guide and storyteller. Her passion, knowledge and willingness to share the whole truth with us will not soon be forgotten. An incredibly moving experience!

Rudi Riet

Bryan is a descendant of the former owners and brings personal levity to his tours . Note: if you want to learn about the active sugar plantation , you need to specifically ask for info from your guide.

Keith Kerr

Very informative tour . Great atmosphere with a nice story.

Jason H.

Wonderful tour . Well done and beautiful grounds. Interesting and informative.

Nicholas Ostermann

Awesome plantation tours there. A great plantation with rich history. A must see.

Heather Copeland

I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't allowed to have my dog on the grounds . So if you travel with your pets I suggest not doing any of the plantation tours . None of them allow dogs

Laura W

Tours ($17) offer a glimpse into life on a Creole plantation based on the memoirs of its namesake, Laura Gore.

Greeted by rude, unfriendly people who were too busy to answer simple questions like "where should we wait for the tour guide?" Among many other issues. Don't waste your time here - go to Oak Alley .
