America's oldest continuously running art museum . Lots of American art , folk art , maritime art , as well as a great poster collection, and the famous Chinese House . Rotating exhibits seasonally.
I love this place and come just to kill time sometimes. There is always something new to look at and old favorites to revisit. Plus if you're a Salem Resident or SSU student you get in free!
Excellent maritime and Asian art museum . Spring for the Huang house tour , it is excellent, and don't miss the movie about how they moved it here all the way from China. Fantastic.
Fantastic art/art-history museum that currently has Georgia O'Keefe and TC Cannon collections. Don't miss the East India collection!
O’Keefe exhibit is amazing. My first trip to this museum . It’s lovely. Very nice gift shop as well . Easy to get to and easy to park .
Special exhibits are top notch. Check out the colonial era far east art from the regular collection. A real hidden gem !
People, you must get to this museum . It is both cozy and spacious and has wonderful exhibits , which are wide-ranged.

Unbelievable Dutch and Flemish art exhibit - make sure to grab a magnifying glass on the way in! And the Chinese House is definitely worth the extra $5!!!

Turner's seascape exhibitions combining romanticism and impressionism are truly masterpieces.
I use to love the museum , but they are renovating it right now, and because of that a lot of stuff was moved around or closed.
With the best gift shop around, the PEM offers live entertainment, films , interactive family tours & many opportunities to be creative. Free to Salem residents ...almost worth moving to Salem for!

Huang house, Turner exhibit till 9/1/2014, Ship models and maritime art are all excellent.
PEM is the place to come for enjoyment, enrichment, sharing with family and friends, and creative stimulation.

The Museum 's Holiday Hours for 2011 are Tues-Sun 10-5 and Monday Dec 26th, 2011 10-5. The Museum will close at 2pm on December 24th and the museum is closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day.

552 original documents pertaining to the Salem witch trials of 1692 have been preserved and are still stored by the Peabody Essex Museum .

A short train ride from Boston, and a nice drive by car -- this museum is not to be missed.
Amazing pieces from Japan & China as well as maratime art . The gift shop is full of beautiflu purses & scarves.
