This museum is a must visit. Plenty of war machines of interest, you can listen to the bands, walk about plenty history to see, or just sit and loaf around.
There are some amazing planes on display here. Be sure to check out the war store
What a great experience - much larger than we expected, stunning exhibits and everything well maintained. Well worth spending a few hours!
Seems dry and boring, but don't be fooled. Loads of vintage aeroplanes, cannons, guns, swords, tanks - any boy's idea of a great day out. Exhibits seem untouched for many years though...
Bring your own drinks and snacks . The War Store coffee shop is exorbitantly expensive .
Really great exhibits ! Well worth the time and money!
took the most remarkable photos, & only R15 to get in for children.
Some of my grandfather's items from North Africa are on display here. Read more

Very good museum about the history of apartheid in SA. Should spend half a day here to read thoroughly and watch the interviews. - Yarn Lam
Go with camera; visit both during the day & at night; building is stunning; views from gallery are stunning. - fm.no.mad/ZA
The longer tour will continue to the Old Fort and Women’s Prison after Constitutional Court, it’s more worth it - Yarn Lam
Bigger than we expected, somewhat confusing maps but a great day out - just amble and take in the experience. Lots of rare and unusual animals I've never heard of, and the kids gave it a thumbs up. - Dion Truter
