Fishball noodles . Hup Kee Teochew Fishball Mee #02-38 serves comforting bowl of noodles . Got the basics right: noodles cooked right & fragrant, fishball bouncy to chew, smooth her giao (fish dumpling )
There's an escalator in the middle of the building, connecting wet market @ 1st floor & food centre above. There r also fire escape stairwells @ each corner of the structure
Beef brisket & tendon noodles ($8). Aromatic sauce from Lao Jie Fang #02-15. Beef brisket & tendon were well stewed , and easy to eat since chef cuts them into bite sizes. Recommended!
Fishball Noodle . The main differences between A) 新路 02-05 & B) Hup Kee 02-38 are A’s fishballs are more substantial (less water used), sweeter chilli , but serves no ‘he giao’ (fish dumpling )
Local desserts . Sing Heng #02-25 offers the whole menu, from red/green soup , to ice kacang, to ice jelly w sea coconut , to bubur chacha. There’s even sweet corn , & soursop w peach !
Lor mee ($3.80). Hoping to fill void left by Hai Tang Lor Mee , Hui Wei #02-14 main feature is the crispy fish fillet ; enjoyable bites. Bigger $4.80 bowl comes with sliced braised pork
My personal loves: Ah Pang for old school hotpot (amazing soup and chilli ), the lor mee shop is the only one my hokkien family doesnt complain about and the horfun at Shi Yun is stellar.
Vegetarian options : prata , thosai, beancurd , chee cheong fun , yam cake , yutiao, fried carrot cake , fruits , local desserts , yong tau foo , kueh, chwee kueh, peanut porridge , pumpkin cake
Local coffee . Enjoyed a kopi-O kosong ‘di lok’ (undiluted, $1) from Kopi Soh #02-03. Thick, bitter & aromatic. Like sipping espresso
Duck noodles . No Signboard Braised Duck Noodles 02-04 serves old school style. Meat is tender, sauce tasted thick & smooth
Fishball fans usually make a beeline for 新路 Fishball Noodle 02-05. Very condensed flavours with each bite

Some stalls are from ex Margaret drive hawker centre like sin kee chicken rice . Braised duck stall not bad, however Hokkien mee & chicken feet horfun are pretty average despite newspaper accolades.

👲: Sin kee famous chicken rice is located here 🍗 !
add-on: think the 02-02 fried dumpling (Guo tie) is better than the steamed dumpling (jiao zi).
