Great place to go for chill sushi . Best sushi around University . Fairly cheap compared to other sushi places. Give it a try.
Best sushi near University Ave. by a long mile. Make sure to ask what's on the board for the day. It's the freshest!
Get the Omakase meal. It's the chefs special selections of the day. Always fresh, always a great exploration of amazing sushi that you would never get to try ordering on your own
Try what is not on the menu such as Ocean Trout , Aji, Blue Fin toro , Yellow tail toro , Aoyagi, Shima aji and Hirame. Note the wasabi is freshly grated and the Ginger is fresh and not the jar variety.
The chicken teriyaki small plate us the best I've had. Sauce was rich and tasty. Chicken was tender with tasty char lines . The udon was super thick and slurpy, mmm!
First time here was great. Wandering around looking for lunch found this place. The Sushi Lunch was killer.
There is always something great on the special list: blue fun toro , hamachi , etc
Volcano roll is kinda like Japanese Lasagna with strange cheese-like sauce on the top. Strange, but pretty good.
Sashimi quality was good but the cut was way too thin. They aren't very generous about the portion. And the special rolls are just okay.
Try the bluefin sashimi if they have it.
Ask for a custom made handroll cucumber avocado and eel . The grilled Chilean sea bass is awesome.
Pretty much everything is good here!
Sushi can be better, the service can be better, somehow overpriced, good environment
Kinda sketchy that they have chopsticks from another restaurant (and taped over them with their logo), but good food
I've been here several times and used to like this place but came here on my birthday and they weren't very nice (or helpful to disabled people) so I can't recommend this place anymore.
Great lunch specials
The quality of fish was just okay for the price, there's much better in the area.
Chilean sea bass is delicious
Surprisingly delicious!
The Sushi 🍣
My favorite sushi place downtown.
Substandard...not great
They brought out a bowl of edamame I didn't order without asking and when the bill came I noticed a $4.50 charge for them. Ballsy move Kanpai.
Over on lytton, avoid the lunch rush
The Skipper Jack is awesome!
Lunch specials are great and affordable
Get the seafood pancake . It's yummy!
Salmon Kama
Rude & not kid friendly . They only have one high chair & I have twin toddlers...they wouldn't allow me to bring my stroller in the restaurant even though they only had 2 other customers. FAIL!!
Simply mediocre.
Terrible service. Mediocre, overpriced food. Never coming back.
Salmon marinade is exquisite. Can't go wrong with any of their sashimi items anyway. - Ro J
They offer TEISHOKU which is typical Japanese combination plate. And it's good. Nanban is the must! - m d
their signature miso cod is delicious. i sometimes ask for the rainbow roll with the inside substituted with spicy tuna - Ashley Sung
Open glass front, nice staff, though it's a little hectic and seems disorganised at times. - Graham Macphee
Coffee is excellent, Italian style. Anything chocolate is pretty awesome too. - Raj
Great South American cafe in which you can enjoy some down time while working/reading. Great beverages and desserts. Try the oatmeal cookie. - The Taste Sheriff
