Awesome historical hotel built for the 1893 World's Fair & one of the largest hotels in the world during the 20th century. Rumors of hauntings & a rich history create a Stephen King like environment.
The north tower (right side) has all the even numbered rooms. The south tower has all the odd numbered rooms.
Lovely old hotel . Great tall ceilings, bay windows, and cute rooms. Yes, if you want ultramodern it's not for you. But there are plenty of plugs, wireless for a small fee, and above all, character.
Great hotel , especially for the price. I got a deal through Hotels.com for $179. The rooms are nice, staff is friendly , location is great, and it has wonderful views . I would definitely come back.
Room 441 is notorious as the most haunted room in the hotel , bring a oujia board. The creepiest floor is the 12th in the north tower , back staircase by the sealed room is very scary to the roof.
The hotel is super old, needs an upgrade asap!
People who complain about this are insane. This is our third year staying and each time it's been great. Do have to pay for wifi but that's minor. Plus there is a lot of history too.
Great value for a historic building in a convenient location. Public transit nearby along side amazing restaurants in walking distance.
The kind of place you expect to see on the news preceded by the words "Huge fire sweeps through Chicago's historic"
Great location within walking distance to parks , the river , Michigan Ave, the loop. Cheap for a good location. Has neat old architecture .
This place is awesome! We walked into our room and it was bright , super air conditioned , and clean . The ghosts sound like fun too... Let's see how the night goes!
Its a bit dated but the rooms are great. Super views of lake Michigan, comfy bed , high ceilings ! Want dated? Stay at hotel pa in NY city . This one is great
The Rafael Restaurant is a choice spot to eat with views of Grant Park ... and spirits . The Congress Plaza Hotel is haunted by many individuals, and none of them seem to be very friendly . Read more
Definitely plan for parking . It is expensive . Hotel is good, old architecture . So don't expect slick stuff. Century old interiors with a little modern touch.
Huge and old, feels like I'm in 'the Shining'. Place is off the grid in the financial district, no fun places around - taxi is a must. Clean an airy rooms but the standard is old. No WiFi .
Careful what you leave in your room, things are missing and housekeepers enter your room at will long after they have cleaned your room.if you can stay elswhere,DO SO!!!
Great Location for #TasteOfChicago Qaint hotel staff great BUT go across to Chicago Carry Out at TravelLodge for breakfast and lunch . Much more economical.
Feels a bit like Shining's Overlook Hotel . And it's definitely a great value for the price you pay! :-)
People leaving comments here obviously do not stay at many hotels ! :). Refrigerators available, just ask. Staff is friendly . Rooms are nice. For the price, I expected worse but was very happy!
So apparently this is one of the most haunted hotels in america. The sixth and twelfth floors especially. I'm on the 11th. We will see!
Beware...of two rooms I've seen, neither had adjustable thermostats. Check the room out before unpacking & settling in.
A great deal if you want to stay on Michigan Ave and be a part of Chicago history. It's affordable , not four-star. Pick your priority.
Did you know this place is haunted? Well I'm not going to tell you the real answer in that. Going under renovations in different parts of the hotel . Room are huge, but run downs and feels plain.
It's not the Palmer House but it has its old charm & far more affordable . Definitely ask for a front facing room on a high floor- the view is great.
Not the most modern hotel but fair price nice lake view and pretty clean w/ strong A/C
Good: inexpensive , close to everything, electrical outlets everywhere. Not so good: hot water was lukecold, no fridge (if you care). It's not a 5 star hotel , don't expect it to be. Would stay again.
If you're still drunk from the night before and it's 2 pm and you're showering and you have bad vision you'll see faces of dead people in the tiles of the shower .
Stay was great. Sure it's got some issues. Makes it an adventure. Got upgraded without asking. Staff are friendly . Paid more for less. Have had worse.
Nice & affordable . Great view of lake MI. older rooms with old doors. Not very insulated for noise - making it hard to sleep.
Do not stay here! It reaks of mold and mildew. The rooms are crap, And have included a lovely picture of the linen closet opposite my room to emphasize this.
My basic criteria: clean , quiet & comfy , was met. Great stay.
Clean and affordable . Easy access to anywhere in the city but might be haunted.
It must have been a great hotel in 19th century...now its kind of outdated
People say this place is haunted....if ur into it ask thr nightsecurity on tues to take u on a tour....older hotel ...nonsmoking rooms r big
Great view of Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain .
There are multiple plugs throughout the guest rooms.....good for your phone chargers, hair dryers and straighteners.
Rooms are really nice; get a view facing the plaza and the fountain if at all possible.
classic Chicago hotel with a lot of history and character. staff are not that outgoing or personable in most cases. at $375 per night for our suite, I was a little irritated to have to pay for interne
Smells funny but really well located near Grant Park . Tons of outlets (and also ghosts ).
Location is awesome. Tricky getting the heat adjusted right. Gouged for parking .
Pool table and SSB Bowling machine in Rafael's Annex.
Most haunted hotel in Chicago, room 907 is a good one no activity
I like everything in this hotel ❤️
Walk to the Hilton a block south of here to print your boarding passes for your flights for free.
Great place if you're into history. If it weren't a historical place, though, it would not command the kind of rates it does and I don't think it would get clientele much at all.
Rates are cheap , view/location is ideal, hotel is manky. If you stay here, plan to spend AS LITTLE TIME AS POSSIBLE at the hotel
Great location. Fair price .
The hotel to stay at for Lollapalooza. Not the best amenities but you're literally across the street from the festival entrance.
Great views , historical
The only thing good about this hotel is the location. It really needs a interior makeover.
