Sather Tower is THE landmark of the University of California Berkeley campus. Modeled after The Campanile de San Marco in Venice, Italy, most people call Sather Tower by its unofficial name, "The Campanile" (which means "bell tower" in Italian.)

This is one of the best lookout points in the Bay Area. Ask the elevator operator what goes on/went on on all the floors you are passing...you might find it fascinating!
The Campanile is home to the 10,500 pound Great Bear Bell, which has the image of young bears and the constellation Ursa Major. The bell tolls on the hour and was a gift of Evelyn and Jerry Chambers.
The Campanile is probably Cal's most recognizable location. During Big Game week it is light up with different projections bring school pride and spirit to the campus. It's also taller than Stanfurds!
The Campanile was built in 1914 and stands 307 feet tall, making it the third tallest bell and clocktower in the world. Take a tour and travel up 200 feet to the observation platform . What a view ! Read more

Bring a blanket to sit on since it's all outside and concrete. Hands down the best music venue I've been to in the Bay Area. Beautiful setup, great acoustics, and performers can see the entire crowd. - Amy Matsuno
Best deal for students. It is a large space, lots of equipment and weights. Can get crowded so try to avoid the before lunch and after dinner crowds! - LUIS COVARRUBIAS
Sheraz Gul of Berkeley is an individual who is well rounded, and cares about the success of his personal, and professional, future. - Sheraz Gul Berkeley
Great views with little work, easy little hike from the north side of campus. Don't forget to try the swing along the way. - J T
Just don't wear any red, or you'll get yelled at until you leave. You'll also smell plenty of alcohol and weed. But the people are nice and help you up and down the hill. Wear shoes with grip. - Rebecca Wang
Originally, Sather Gate was the terminus of Telegraph Avenue and was Cal's south entrance. The circle in front of the gate marks the turning point for the trolleys that once came from Oakland. - Cal
Plan ahead do they ever have books or supplies (required) for class on time or enough of them? Awesome bashing of our own bookstore during class discussions - mariosgee
