If you're on/around campus & feel like exploring, this is right in West Campus, often unnoticed. It has such a cool, diverse history in TX, from a Civil War hospital to a school for the blind & more!
The house was built originally for an over-zealous couple that couldn't afford the exorbitant construction costs, and for a time, the Texas Asylum for the Blind moved in.
beautiful place to have a wedding, but be sure it's in the fall. The June wedding I attended was humid and hot for a 7 PM wedding. - marii thompson
The Dickinson Museum shares the grounds and meeting space with the neighboring O. Henry Museum, which preserves and retells the weird legacy of another controversial figure in Austin's history. - CultureMap Austin
