Food inspired by Native Americans! Had the Buffalo chili taco , which was basically chili in the Indian fry bread . Nice clean atmosphere. Great food for a museum .
With food stations representing several Indian regions, this cafe offers great options for adults, and still the basics for kids.
After a morning in the space museum , this is the best restaurant you can probably find in the mall that's close so you can continue to the next museum
Creative, original food to complement a visit to this impressive museum .
For a museum cafe , it has a great selection of American (continent, not US only!) food. The buffalo sandwiches are great!
The squash and ginger Agua Fresca is great, as are many of the sides. The fry bread is OK, but if you think this is good, try some in Navajo country .
Pork tacos with raspberry salsa were delicious. I also liked the wild rice . It was a bit spicy . I always get the agua fresca . Thus time I tried the passion fruit . Yum!
Try the hearts of Palm salad , so good!
Good inventive food for a museum , worth popping into. The bison steak was tasty as was the chilli .
Pretty much can't go wrong with the salmon and buffalo tasting plate
Yes, it might feel weird to grab lunch at a museum , but the cafeteria here is actually amazing. You have to see it to believe it!
Indian taco with buffalo chili . One of the few entrees for less than $15. Expensive for lunch .
If you order the entree with two sides, you can get the sides from any station (doesn't have to be the same place you got the entree. Yummy!
Expensive but delicious, and great variety
The pulled bison sandwich was excellent. Food is worth the slightly higher prices.
Definitely a place you should visit. With Indian American typical cuisine...
Make sure to get the fry bread - it comes with the pulled buffalo dish from the Plains. And any of the root vegetables .
You can usually find some interesting ingredients here like salsify, amaranth, fiddlehead ferns, elk , or lotus root
Way better food than you would think for a museum cafe ! Awesome place to grab food if you're museum hopping .
Everything is delicious AND overpriced.
Be prepared to plan to make more than one visit... so many choices and not enough tummy space!
Perfect spot to grab a bite when museum hopping . Its pricey ; but well worth it.
Serves native cuisines from various regions. Sample cedar-planked, fire-roasted salmon or grilled bison steaks ! -- Green Guide Editor
Buffalo chili is really good but a has a real good kick to it. Also, get the honey fry bread . It's yummers!
Try something new every time. But always get the fry bread ! :)
Everything tastes delicious. They also serve wine . :-)
Food is practically the best in the national mall area
Round the corner from the Native American food there's a full canteen with ridiculous choice.
Lots of great vegetarian options available here. Enjoy!!!
Food is pretty good, but NOT moderately cheap . Whoever said that is nuts . Good food...but not worth the price.
Several locals told me this was a must-visit for lunch while touring the mall . Doesn't disappoint!
Get the snapping turtle soup and ask for the pulled buffalo on an Indian taco !! Yummmmmmy
Fry breads are flavorful (and authentic ?) thanks to the meat. Processed cheese , etc was disappointing, however. Other foods look more creative and higher quality.
Green chile chicken posole is bangin’
Absolutely the best DC museum cafe . Don't miss the fry bread .
Get there before 3PM - they close several of the stations down at 3 and only have a limited menu from 3 to 5.
Best place on the mall to grab a bite
Good selection vegetarian side dishes and a few entrées .
Food is great, but you have to go durning normal lunch time because a lot of things aren't available all the time, and the fry bread sucks don't get it.
Amazing variety of indigenous salads and sides!
Cafe has a great selection but the prices are outrageous, be prepared!
A smorgasbord of Native American dishes.
Hands down THE best food in any museum !
Menu changes so there is always something new to try.
Great for vegans too
Best food at a Smithsonian
Make sure you try the pumpkin seed , orange salsa - delicious!
Iced Chai Tea is NOT something I recommend here.
Blue corn bread is delicious! Get a window seat if you can, nice waterfall views .
Its quiet here. Good for trying unusual things.
Very cool experience with a domed ceiling surround image a flat image ground lighting - Max Sklar

The cafe great. Museum very disappointing. Of all the great things to learn and art of our native North Americans this museum misses. Building is beautiful. - Richard Revilla
Gorgeous and relaxing (when it's not terribly busy) urban refuge. Highly recommended spot. - Jonathan Coffman
