Instead of going with all the sweaty masses up on the summit trail , take the circumference trail 302 around the base of the mountain . It's a lot less crowded and beautiful! About a 3.5 mile loop.
Not a long trail but busy and somewhat strenuous nonetheless, so be careful, don't litter, drink water and stay on the trail ! Start at 3p for sunset bring a light and a camera and capture the sites!
Dear Phoenix City CouncilPiestewa Peak gate & facilities were open Til 9pm. It's daylight. Look at the gate. Help? Arrive before 7 or wait for the small lot outside gate for someone to finish a hike .
Love this place! Not the easiest but worth the view !would run down w/my headphones-what a rush, trails are hard,no even trails !Ran into my sisters boyfriend, carrying his bike while climbing !lol Try it!
Great hiking trail ! Bring lots of water and be ready to have your glutes burn - it’s like climbing up stairs!!
Difficult to get parking space if you plan after 9 on a weekend. Instead of wasting time looking for parking inside the park you can try on 27th PL or near by st.
You feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, and then all of the sudden, you see a peak of the Phoenix skyline. One of the prettiest hikes in town without the crowds of Camelback.
Awesome hike , if you're serious never stop + run! When you're done check out 32 SHEA cafe on 32nd St and Shea. They have coffee , food + liquor (if you're in the mood for bloody mary's or mimosas !)!

The view is such a reward for the climb , esp for sunrise/sunset or anytime between. Feel great afterwards!!
A great loop hike : From the end of the parking lot , take 304 N, look immediately for 8B E, up over saddle, continue down counterclockwise (all left from here) along 8A & 8 back to 304 & parking lot .
Only for those who exercise daily if not, their legs will hurt for three days, or will have to be picked up by an helicopter after reaching the summit. It happened to a friend's friend a few years ago
There are two main attractions at Piestewa Peak: the Summit Trail and the Circumference Trail . The Summit Trail is by far the more traveled. It is about 1.2 miles to the top. The Circumference Trail a Read more
Like to hike at a fast speed? This trail makes it possible! Not so much climbing like Camelback and more flat trails . Still beautiful scenery ! Recommended.
Sunrise or sunset . Great hike and great for the legs.
Tough trail , but you get a real sense of accomplishment if you reach the peak.
Get here early on weekends, beginners bring plenty of water . If hiking in the evening bring a small flashlight
So now that you have burnt off all those calories from a the hike , come on down to Beckett's Table for some fantastic food & drink. "Come together" at BT with some friends. 602 954 1700

Good moderate hike , pretty much mostly a stair climber. Busy on weekends, lots of tourists . Great view on top.

Difficult hike but amazing view . More of a stair like hike . Lots of wildlife so leave the snacks at home
The 2,608-foot Piestewa Peak offers wonderful views , but if you take on this 1.2-mile hike in summer don’t forget to take plenty of water . Dehydration could cramp your style.
Do the circumference trail . Tough first uphill followed by 1 mile of nice pass with great views of W. Valley. Connect w/summit trail . For views of north, connect w/1A right before steep 1st uphill.
Water, visor, electrolytes, good shoes with traction, and clothes that wick the sweat! Scoobie snacks are great too! :-)
For first time hikers, there are metal guardrails there for you to hang on to if you are having a hard time!
Great place for a vigorous workout and a great view at the top!
Make sure to bring plenty of water and shoes with good traction! No, flip flops and bedroom slippers don't count!
Climb to the geological survey marker on the right. Then you'll really be at the summit, 2608 ft/795 m, 3rd highest peak in Phoenix.
It's a tough but breathtaking hike - the scenery and elevation take your breath away! More like nature's stairclimber.
Fun, but challenging hike . Gets pretty crowded as well .
Worth the hike up for a great view of Phoenix
Great place to go for exercise or get reconnected to Mother Earth.
Awesome hike try to come early before sun comes up
This is really Squaw Peak.. Some ridiculous politics changed the name. It's funny how the name of the mtn was changed but not the road it's on?
A little harder than it seems. Great hike . Awesome view .
Don't forget to touch the metal summit marker on the right side when you hike up! The official peak!
Enjoy Phoenix's weather by hiking up to the top of Piestewa!
PLEASE VOTE! People's Best New Chef Award. http://www.foodandwine.com/peoples-best-new-chef/southwest
No dogs allowed on the summit trail . If you bring a dog, try one of the other trails from the end of the parking lot .
After this nice hike head to Suddenly Slimmer Spa for a nice deep tissue massage . Call 602-952-8446
The 8 trail is one of my favs!
Great hike first thing in the morning Squaw Peak... Peaceful
Beautiful views
Try not to fall off the side of the trails . ;)
Shut up and enjoy the views .
There is only 1 exit to the summit trail . Don't try to go through the parking lot thinking there's an exit on the other side.
Parking lot is full at 5:30... it's still dark
Trail 202 is a fun hike that isn't very populated and will give you a workout.
Well-maintained trail with decent amounts of shaded areas. Great work out! ???????? - Mel C
If your in town for a few days, and love hiking, you must attempt Camelback. It is a great hike with an amazing view! Just be cautious with parking, it can fill up pretty quickly so get their early. - Michelle O
A must do if you live in the Phoenix area. Located in beautiful Scottsdale. Great exercise and amazing view throughout the hike and especially at the summit. Bring water! - vincent kelly
