Great place to start your work-out. Meet your friends, or encounter strangers. There are folks at the beach most days by 5:45 AM.
Not a large beach here, but easy to get to and not crowded
Lake Harriet, on the whole, beats Calhoun. However, this beach is tiny and not terribly sandy. Also, way too many kids typically. Calhoun has it bested as far as beaches go.
Never a lifeguard so you can bring all your water toys . Just need to watch the kids
