Bring plenty of water. This is definitely a workout and not good if you simply want a nice walk by the water.
Beautiful lower gorge trails but they are not for beginners or elderly. Too many places for children to fall in, etc. and the stairs are hardcore!

Go on the whirlpool rapids hike. It's about a 2 mile hike leaving from whirlpool rapids state park and has some of the best scenery I saw during my stay in Niagara. - Cody Craine
