Incredible views of the rugged Hamakua coast and Pololu Valley. The 30 minute hike down leads to a black sand beach . Allow 45 minutes to an hour back up, to relax and enjoy the view . Bring water .
Rangers warn that it can be dangerous if not done slowly and carefully. Especially close to the top where its steep and can be slippery.
Great scenic hike , not too difficult, maybe not so much for kids under 5
When you get to the beach walk across the black sand an there will be a trail that heads back up the opposite side you came down hike about 2 miles till a bench w/ great view ignore the gate 1mile in.
Bring water for the hike back up.
Real men use slippers to hike this trail ! No kidding! #yolo
Don't go swimming unless your are a good swimmer. The current is strong but the rip tides are stronger.
30 minute moderate hike to black sand beach . Viewed sharks eating beached whale carcass.
Be sure to take a bottle of water.
Magical place. The actual trail (kind of steep switch backs) and beach are far from the Foursquare check-in location.
