Bring a book and expect a wait. You get used to the "odor" everyone is talking about real quick. The staff are super nice, friendly and approachable.
Go to their website and check in during business hours! You can wait in line at home or work and then get served soon after arriving. They will call the last 4 digits of your phone number and text you
Pro-tip: use the "get in line " option on the website, will save you hours, just chill at home until your time approaches. I showed up and only waited less than 5 minutes to be called.
If you love long waits and standing in lines , this is the place! Also has a strange odor, but you will get used to it! Really FANTASTIC!!
Bring a book , charger for your phone, eat before coming and avoid the beginning of the month! 5+ hrs....no food or drink allowed.
The smell, the wait, the hoops you now have to jump through with the paperwork(it was just birth certificate and social security card...former now current resident)...this place is ridiculous!!!
Smile for your photo! The people are nice
Awesomely nice employees! Especially considering the reputation of the DMV. Maybe it I just in the motorcycle section! Good job AusTX!
Getting here 30 minutes before open doesn't do much...camp out if you don't want to wait in a super long line .
Super nice stuff contrasts the torture of eternal waiting
Don’t bring coffee + your child isn’t allowed to eat goldfish crackers ( letting them scream is approved), and you can’t wear headphones = power drunk clerk
Very efficient
The single most difficult document to obtain in the United States of America: TX Driver's License
Do not spend one hour on your iPhone at the DMV then take the eye test. You will get a new license with corrective lenses restriction.
Lots of smiles on these folks. Much better attitudes than DMV folks in some others states I've lived in.
Great place to go if you want WASTE YOUR ENTIRE DAY!
Lots of smiley faces today. Watch out for all new drivers.
Thursday: their slowest day. (Don't mess this up for me for when I have to go back!) Apparently it's 20-40 minutes instead of 2 hours.
No wifi and you'll be waiting for at least can hour. Bring a book !
Expect to double automated wait time estimates. They go up and down instead of just down...
It's so sad how rude and selfish the people that foot places like this can be. The employees are just doing their job and you have no right to be angry because YOU forgot something etc
Great practice for purgatory
AVOID if possible! I had bad experiences at Govt offices but this leads the charts at being Horrid! Had all the documents but was sent back because the check in guy was probably in a bad mood! AVOID
Overcrowded slow service rude employees
Avoid this place like the plague
Super fast and courteous service. In and out in less than 25 mins for out of state vehicle. - Shawn
In all fairness, this office is pretty efficient. Yes I had about a 30 min wait but there were lots of folks and they were quick in my view! - Diane C
I've been here over an hour, still loooong way to go. - Sun Woo James
One of Austin's better GoodWills. However, due to the heavy thrifting culture in this town, the furniture is ALWAYS either sold or picked over. - M.
