A beautiful and historic park , this was one of the first homes of the Birmingham Zoo (early 1900s) and the site of a Civil War skirmish. Now a great walking trail , sports park , lake , and amphitheater .
I love Avondale...baseball diamonds , play area for the kids, walking trail ...ducks, geese, cranes oh my!!!
Grat walking trails and beautiful scenery
Played there sixty years ago. Wade din the pond . Fed the ducks and swans. The recent renovation work was money well spent. Even the old dilapidated " Castle " up on the hill has been redone.
Look for place to rent or buy around the park . Best neighborhood in Birmingham.
What I like best about Avondale Park is that all of the stone trails lead nowhere. Or to dog poop.

Kind of gross and dirty . I would recommend Railroad Park instead.
