Incredibly beautiful park ~20min from downtown Arlington. Busy, but great trails lining the river which are not to be missed. ~1.5-2hr for a hike along the water, looping back to the Visitor Center
Enjoy the majestic outdoors at this scenic park just outside of DC. There are 3 outlooks for prime viewing , many trails and picnic areas and a helpful visitor center with an interactive museum .
A cool park to go to with your family or friends. There are place were you can eat and walk. The fee is not much. Most of the time there is parking . The park is the most full on weekends in the summer
Perfect place for hiking and/or relaxing...go early...$5 for entrance and cash is quicker...Instead bringing lunch try BBQ , it is more fun...restrooms are miserable but who cares.
For my oldest son's bar mitzvah, went hikeing the billy goat trail . Hired two guides (John Fishback is one.) Special back packs with their lunch/water provided. Bussed all from hotel to BG-location.
I loved the Virginia side trails more than the Maryland side.. If you planning to hike be sure to bring water and snacks ????
The trails are challenging but always fulfilling because eventually you are going to see the well-known twenty foot waterfalls . The serenity is priceless and all trails are wheelchair friendly .
This park is the best! Obey the signs please. Do not drown. We live near the park and hear the sirens way too often.

Best place to snap a sunrise shot of the falls is the Virginia side ! Such gorgeous nature so close to civilization!
Wonderful trail to hike on. Plenty of opportunistic areas to hike , fish , or kayak on. Great people surrounded by the wonderful wildlife . Careful of copperheads while rock climbing though.
River Trail is has a lot of gorgeous stopping points to take in the scenery. Even though it's only a few miles, it will take a while to complete. Don't plan to rush through.
Beautiful park that is definitely worth seeing. $10 per car to get into the park .

Park at Riverbend Park just down the road for free then hike to Great Falls Park via the roughly 2 mile long Mine Run Trail along the river . No fees, same great day!

Come here right after a day or two of rain, or after a big thunderstorm. Bring your camera . The water runs brown from the run-off, but the raging river is at it's most impressive then.
Beautiful scenery , very relaxing. It's hard to believe that such a beautiful place is so close to the city areas.

You might as well get a year-long parking pass. It's $20, and goes to a good cause! You'll get your money's worth in 4 visits.
