Very simple, uncluttered menu, because everything they do here is great. I was thrilled with my waffle and bacon strips; I'm sure you won't be disappointed with whatever you order.
The food is the best ever, so fresh, great taste! The staff is super friendly , always goes up and beyond. If there is a wait, it's worth the extra time!!! Love this place!! Oh and you've got pancakes !
Plan on waiting if you go anytime past 8AM,but you will NOT be disappointed. Hog & Chick is my favorite on the menu and I always add a side of pancakes :)
Breakfast was great! I had the Big Popa Burrito (pictured) and my wife had the special of the day (French toast and sausage ). Both were really... really good! And I didn't feel terrible afterwards.
It's all about that Five Spot sandwich , yum yum! The macaroni salad is great too! If you go, make sure to bring your appetite, they don't call it Matt's BIG Breakfast for nothing!!
This is a fabulous place! Breakfast all day long. The blueberry jam was the best I've tried! Service is great. Very welcoming and warm. Ask for a stake knife if you need one ;-)
Ate here today for the first time and now that I have had the food I would definitely wait any amount of time in the blazing sun. I will be a regular here for sure! Pictured is the Salami Scramble
Probably the best breakfast ever. It's my favorite meal of the day and the wait was definitely worth it. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast , The Five Spot definitely hits the spot every time!
Split the Salami Scramble and griddle cakes with someone. Both are to-die-for. The coffee is also some of the best in town ! Matt also has a coffee shop on First and McDowell called Giant Coffee .
I have never had a Waffles as tasty as Matts Big Breakfast ; also Scrambled eggs with Chicken sausage , blueberry lemonade are delicious

Daily specials are terrific however my favorite item on their menu is the Belgian waffle with Applewood smoked bacon -- yummy! Come early to get a seat otherwise expect to wait. Downtown Phx!
Came here after seeing it on Triple D. It is awesome. The pepper bacon is so delicious and the pancakes are amazing. Gotta get there early though or you'll have to wait, but it's worth it.
Just a good ol' fashion breakfast ???? here with your favorite trimmings! A simple menu makes for easy ordering! Taste a freshly made Blueberry or Strawberry lemonade !
Everything is good. Don’t even get me started on that waffle and THAT BACON ? So delicious, it was offensive. The hash browns are to die for. Literally. I’m dead.
Rosemary-flecked home fries are one delicious reason breakfast gets all the glory, but lunch 's Big Butter Burger , classic Reuben and Midwest-style chili are just as praiseworthy. Read more
Breakfast was good. Everything was under seasoned but good. Quality ingredients for sure. I don't get why everyone says this is the best breakfast on planet earth. Very good, but not stellar.
The only downside is the typically long wait time, but if you are just in it for the food I recommend ordering it to-go and picking it up, they are super fast with this and it is just as yummy!
Regardless of what kind of breakfast you order, make sure it has hashbrowns on the side. They are perfectly crispy on the outside, but hot soft on the inside, and my favorite potatoes EVER!
I order the skinny which was very good my guest order the traditional eggs bacon home fries and a coffee everything was Cold he had to ask 3 times to have a hot cup of coffee ????
Just about the best waffle and bacon I've ever had... Wow! Excellent coffee and service too. Cool design.
The pancakes are quite toothsome, and have the most perfect dollop of butter on top. The bacon goes great with the pancakes , so I suggest getting that on the side.
It's not in an old Phoenix house anymore but its new location is still cozy and different than most breakfast places. Food is amazing though a bit pricey . $8 for a waffle & bacon .
If the wait is long, you can put your name in and go wait at their coffee shop (Giant Coffee ). They'll call Giant when your table is ready! It's excellent coffee too.
Food blogger Kathy of Crafty Chica recommends Matt's Big Breakfast. "Try the kicked-up cherry-bourbon sausage , the Salami Scramble , and the Belgian-style waffle with sweet butter and maple syrup ."
Go early and sit at the counter, always order the special. Food is local and fresh. Feat. on Diner , Drive-ins and Dives so it is stellar. Oh, and say "hi" to owners Maria and Matt!
