Possibly the best sandwiches in the city . Definitely a weekday lunch place in terms of hours. No seating, but you can take your sandwiches to Yerba Buena Gardens nearby.
So far my favorite sandwich place given the price:quality ratio. They handle long lines well , and their lemonade is delicious. (Make sure to ask for lemonade if they don't have it on the menu!)
If the line snaking around the block isn’t a good enough indication of the magical sandwiches housed within, the smell of fresh bread (with a hint of corned beef ) certainly should be. Read more
Yes, indeed, that fried chicken sandwich is really good. There is a lot of chicken and even more batter. With a nice kick.
Cold Roast Beef Sandwich . Beef is served very rare with smoked onions , frisee and horseradish cream cheese on a housemade seedy bun . It’s juicy, tender and positively addicting.
I had the lamb and eggplant sandwich and an oatmeal walnut cookie . The bread was amazing, sandwich overall was good. The cookie was really tasty.
Great takeaway sandwich place . Make sure you go to the entrance on the side and check the menu posted. Line moves pretty quickly.
BBQ pulled pork w/ coleslaw is evil. So far, 2/2 sandwiches are incredibly delicious and filling. Next on my hit list is the corned beef ... Strawberry ade is yummy too!
2 veg options - one with egg , one with cauliflower . They're both decent but I preferred the one with egg ! Good, quick spot for lunch ????
Really good sandwiches . The only down is, the bread is fairly thick. I usually make it an open face sandwich :)
Amazing sandwiches downtown. Peek at the menu before you hop in line so you know what you want to order; they like to keep the line moving quickly.
Who knew curry cauliflower was so tasty as a sandwich ! Great place to pick-up lunch to go. The line moves really fast.
Everything
Try the fiery lamb and eggplant sandwich with curry and herb pesto ($9) Read more
They change their menu every few months. Also, try to get there before 1pm, their more popular options run out quickly.
My first egg salad sandwich ever was from The Sentinel and I'm afraid if I get one anywhere else it won't be as fantastic.
I have been blown away by all of their sandwiches , but if it's your first time there, the corned beef is a must
Best roast beef sandwich I've ever had - sliced thin, served bloody rare and covered in a horseradish cream cheese . Incredible.
Every sandwich here is delicious with quality ingredients ???? can’t go wrong
The Spicy Pork is not spicy but it's delicious! So filling that you'll fall asleep after lunch .
Grab a good fork (not the one in the napkin), find a knife, grab a napkin and DEVOUR one of their sandwiches , PRONTO! Tasty corned beef !
Anything with their rare roast beef is going to blow you away...provided that you like meat, of course.
The spicy chicken salad (special) is awesome.
New cafe hip =s no menu. "Hey are those blueberry muffins back there on the counter". Yup. "Okay, I'll have one of them".
The Corned Beef Sandwich with Gruyere is an absolute must. Say Hi in Polish to the girls who work there and you might get a free cookie ...
the lamb , chickpeas and mint sandwich . also, the line moves fast.
The corned beef sandwich isn't your father's reuben...but once you try it, you won't want it to be. Amazing.
The Balt Sandwich and lemonade ! Yum ????
Their oatmeal is amazing. Skip the sugar, it's packed with fresh fruit .
Really hard to not get the roast beef . But the meatloaf sandwich that is occasionally on the menu is stellar.
Not too many options for vegetarians . There is only 1 option generally which is the Roasted Cauliflower cold sandwich . The sandwich was good but i have better sandwiches elsewhere.
The sandwiches are pretty good!
You get a free pickle with your sandwhich that is AMAZING and crunchy :)
Check their website for the daily menu before you go...helps navigate the craziness when you get there and keep the line moving . Have a backup though, cause they run out of some stuff...
Try the Vietnamese Style Bbq Pork Sandwich - (via @Foodspotting)
Get a great sandwich and eat it in one of the nearby POPOS because this place has no seats.
The BALT does not skimp on avocado . (I love California.)
This place is amazing for their muffins !

Go on the earlier side because they start to sell out of things on their limited menu by 12:30pm
Great sandwiches if you're in the area.

Everything is stupid good. Roast beef in particular
The corned-beef sandwich is absolutely unbelievable.
Corned beef (no gruyere anymore, apparently? Still delicious!)
Their bread (on all the sandwiches ) is super good.
