Try everything -- especially tako (baby octopus ), chicken skewers with plum sauce , and grilled rice cake . Slurp some ramen and sip a soju cocktail . Order more as you go and feel like you're in Tokyo,
This is what drunk night snack bliss looks like. Order skewers of hot, crackly chicken skin ($1.25), velvety beef tongue ($2.50) and wash it all down with more Japanese beer on tap . Read more
Great little spot to get cozy and intimate with a few friends. Delicious and inexpensive sharing dishes. Love the skewers and squid tempura !
Fantastic yakitori in a lively neighborhood . Nearly everything grilled on a stick. Bonus points if you get your group seated in the back room too. Usually a queue everyday of the week.
This is the kind of place that you just will not find in another city in America. Japanese grilled meat skewers . Crazy looking menus - trust me, this is a cool and unique experience.
Everything is good here. I wish I lived in NYC, to eat everyday the BBQ pork with avocado !!!! It was delicious!!! We had the A yakitori . Everything was delicious!!!
Favorite yakitori spot in St. Marks. It's small and a bit cramped but food is too delicious to care. Their ramen is good too. They also have frozen Calpico (adult version!), so yummy !
Delicious ramen , rice balls the size of your face, a wide variety of yummy skewered meats. Seating may be tight, but it's nothing unbearable - it'll draw you closer to your company (and your food).
The onigiri is huge and too filling. Split 5–10 skewers and one onigir between two people and you're set. My favorites were garlic and liver .
LONG wait but worth it! Definitely do the okonomiyaki and the octopus balls, fantastic yakitori in general, unagi roll is s gift .
Amazing Negi Ramen at half the price of Ippudo's! Be warned, long wait and tiny bathrooms , but authentic Japanese cuisine.
Eel rice was definitely the best I've had in NYC so far, not too rich yet a delicious bowl with other combinations.
Best Japanese food I have had in the city . If the line is too long, pop into their other spot Oh Taisho next door for similar menu.
Taisho is all about the energy and theatrics of the grill men, and eating with your nose pressed almost to the flame that's cooking your pig 's foot. Read more
You love all the different Yakitori here – especially the chicken “combo ” plate. What you might not love is trying to get the barbeque smell out of your clothes .
Tight space with quick, friendly service . Great spot tor skewers !
Great Izakaya food for those late nights . Bawa (Pork ) and Kawa (Chicken Skin ) are my favorite skewers here. The Tatsuta Age (Fried Chicken ) is delicious! And the Rock Shrimp is also delicious! Much ch
Very nice and filling food to satiate your hunger. The unagi plates are the best.
The sabashio (grilled mackerel ) was delicious, as was the fried tofu . However, our yakitori set came out cold and the wait staff asked us "are you sure?", which was totally the wrong approach.
Such tight corridors, they sat my party of 4 at this tiny table in the far back corner under the coat hangers!!! There is fried chicken skin , eww... but other fried meats were decent!
They have the best fried octopus balls - it's breaded in rice flour and fried and finished with BBQ sauce and some sort of mayo and then topped with bonito flakes . -Ed Cotton, Top Chef
Japanese bar food at its best, it's the perfect place to go with friends for late night eating and drinking. Love the Unatama Don.
Classic Japanese street food . Cheap , fast and they serve till late!
Good yakitori is hard to come by, but not here. Delve into the chicken skewers and the crispy chicken skins and wash it down with one of their Japanese beers on tap .
If you're hungry don't make your order for all dishes at once as they'll all come together and you'll need to eat like crazy to get it all down whilst it's hot.
Yakitori they served are good with beer :) and good late night hangout spot with friends
Get the mentai potato . The ramen is not really the point of this place, but if youre maybe sharing a Set B, worth a try - a very under appreciated NYC ramen .
Yakitori seem to be all I eat in NYC. For under 14 dollars, a combo of 10 yakitori skewers can be had.
Yakitori , tako wasabi , takoyaki , yaki onigiri , unagi tofu , potato salad , steak , etc
I always get the salmon cream yakisoba and chicken skin skewer :D with frozen green apple D;
Ridiculously tasty yakitori . Snag everything imaginable on. Skewers while drinking tasty chuhai
Awesome beef meatball skewers , popcorn shrimp and grilled duck !
Not so great for a vegetarian . I had the veggie stir fry entre that came with potato salad and spaghetti (!?) bizarre and not particularly tasty...
Great for late night ! Scallops and bacon on BBQ Japanese style ! Yummmm
Excellent spot on the East Village . Great for inexpensive eats and sake .
Very good food for your money.
Solid place. I love the sweet and sour pork belly appetizer . Amazing.
Come on a Monday night to avoid the crowds.
Hole in the wall with character... I have been coming here since 1997
The ramen is PERFECT, temperature is not hot and ramen is not too soft or al dente .
Salmon cream yakisoba , beef tongue skewers , and agedashi tofu never fail
Supa Tuna Don and Mentai Fries all day every day. best food in the city . and that's a period.
This place rocks! The Yotsumi and Tsukune yakitori are fantastic. Have a plain Yaki Onigiri (grilled rice ball ) and small salad with your skewers .
Get the XL drink it's worth it
The shrimp was soo good
Legit yakitori . Delicious Japanese fried chicken !!
A giant rat ran up the wall next to our table while my friends and I were having dinner . Don't think I can come back, so sad bc I used to like this place a lot.
I usually get any of the chicken skewers or the rock shrimp . The service is a bit lacking and it's extremely crowded for an already shoe-sized venue. Hit up Udon West for less of a wait!
Chicken skin skewer and baby octopus all the way
Sit at the grill bar & watch magic being made! Definitely get the grilled squid , okonomiyaki , & takoyaki !
Love the BBQ pork with avocado! Great place s around! Cheap and yummy! - Chris Cannella
Anything in a skewer is grilled to perfection, but also eat the eggplant which has such a fabulous sauce you want to dip everything in it. One of my favorite NY spots. - Susan Zuckert
Nice place, really trendy and good sushi! You should also try the omelette! - Britt Weijermars
Green tea lava cake! And the honey condensed toast! Can't go wrong with either. - Linda Chow
Underground Japanese spot with small plates that will melt in your mouth. The vibe is dimly lit and very sexy. ???????? - Jenn Schwartz
