Fresh-baked bread on tasty tortas , fresh ingredients , sauces made from scratch. Get the spicy Ahogada . Chia lemonade is boba like. Cook’s has a no freezer policy and all pastries are made on site.
If you love shrimp try Shrimp Po'boy, if you love veggies try the Veggie tofu torta . All their sides are great and tasty but my favorite is the mustard basil potatos !
"You can't find a sandwich like the bacalao torta elsewhere in the city . It has Spanish-style cod , roasted red peppers , garlic , and olives ."- Christian Page Read more
Every sandwich we tried here has been great. Personal favorite: Salmon + Cream Cheese with capers . Yum! The Carne Asada is also very popular. Make sure you get the Red Fries as your side too!
Good bread is absolutely essential to a good sandwich and this bread is GREAT!!! Sourdough rolls, perfectly suited for absorbing all of the juices from these sandwiches .
Check in occasionally to try their homemade waters, like watermelon , melon , cantalope, pineapple with basil , lemonade with chia, and hibiscus waters !
The Tortas Selection here is just unreal! Cook me up a Shrimp Po Boy Torta !!
The mole verde and the diabla are my regulars. The santa fe salad is delicious, as are the lime cucumber drinks and the red fries are sweet potato
Portions are monstrous: two could easily share a sandwich . Don't miss the sweet potato fries , made fresh and dotted with chunky ground salt. YUM.
So glad I finally tried this place - definitely worth the buzz. I had the California and hubby tried the Molcajete - everything was delicious and we loved the red fries !
Milanesa is one of the best, hands down. Crispy breaded meat and the soft bread go together sooo well .
I was on a mission to try every torta here until I had the bombero . Now I am on a mission to eat the bombero has many times as possible.
It's not your typical torta place. They have various specialty/trendy tortas to choose from. My favorite is El Ranchito - slightly spicy with nopales ! Read more
The Carne Asada was dry and scarce: my sandwich was mostly lettuce! They must have forgotten the pico de gallo . Try the Mojito (a bit on the sweet side) or Ahogada (spicy !) instead.
Every single torta is delicious and I have eaten almost all of them.
Po Boy torta is really good with a large pineapple mint freshly made agua
Deliciously complex sammiches . The diablab is super spicy so be careful.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. Definitely recommend.
La diabla is legit (and hot) but if you like spicy it's the "bees knees"
Food is great! And La Diabla is no joke! . .But, my buddy says the owner almost mowed-down his kid by speeding down the parking lot . . Juss sayin'
So many great tortas to pick! U can't go wrong!
El Chavo #8 is a good option for a lighter sandwich
Try carne asada and al bombero . Also their cucumber lime drink is very good :)
The address says Montebello, but it's in Monterey Park. Get the frescas (mint watermelon !) and the yummy sandwiches (I had La Diabla - Jalapeno AND Habanero !)
I like the taco taco salad . Today I feel like chicken , so sub the beef for chicken .
Authentic , Natural, Just good!
Working my way through the menu. So far the Bombero and Shrimp Po' Boy are faves. The lengua , not so much.
Salmon torta is ridiculously delish! Not your typical torta , but worth a try!
I asked to make the #6 spicy . It did not disappoint.
Call your order in so you don't you don't have to bear the crowded line
The BBQ pulled pork torta was pretty good.
Everything is exceptionally good here. If you like a blast of flavor get the Ranchito ! Amazing stuff.

Salmon doesn't jump to mind when you think of tortas , but believe me you, its awesome!
Strawberry Guayaba Agua Fresca is so good!
Everything is the bomb
La Diabla...it will melt your face off but man is it a good torta .
If you can take the heat then order the Ahogada . If you can't, then get my 2nd favorite torta here, the Mojito .
Try the Fried Shrimp Po' Boy - Sooooo good!! NOM
Get the carne asada ... but stay away from the lengua . It almost made me wretch...
Aguas frescas , any flavor!
Fries and cups of agua come in styrofoam!
Get the ranchito . Asada, chorizo , guacamole and cheese . Yum!
People aren't staring at you, you're probably sitting next to the menu wall.
"Nutella Empanada"--don't think, just get it!!!
Best milanesa torta I've had. Not better than moms but great.
Carne Asada Torta with a LARGE order of red fries !! Trust me you will not regret it!!
