Cabildo

The site of the Louisiana Purchase Transfer, the Cabildo was established as the home of the Louisiana State Museum in 1911 and is now home to a comprehensive exhibit focusing on Louisiana's early history. Come on Wednesday for drop-tours of the Museum with an LSM historian!

HISTORY

This was the site of the Louisiana Purchase transfer ceremonies in 1803 & continued to be used by the city council until the mid 1850s. In 1911 the Cabildo became home to the Louisiana State Museum .
