Bavette's is actually BYOB . The unwritten rule is that you can bring a bottle of wine without any corkage fee , but you must share one glass of your wine with another patron, which we benefited from!

Sarp Erkaya

Trendy spot, friendly service , amazing food! Fillet is cut perfectly and cooked just right. ???????? get the mac&cheese and the corn ! Start w oysters and pair it all with a martini ! ???? Perfect dinner ????????

Ashley Rose

All around excellent experience. Super seductive downstairs vibe, love the bench seating , leisurely service (come here to relax not to speed dine) and OMG dry aged Rib Eye . Fun corkage policy.

Garlic Shrimp De Jonghe in herbs & sherry . Filet on bone, roasted marrow , & crab stuffed avocado...Perfect for couples, foursomes or singles - Eat & drink downstairs bar great speakeasy feel! 10+!

Amy Cummings

This was legitimately one of the best meals I have ever had. The steak frites were absolutely delicious. And don’t skip on dessert . The chocolate cream pie was to die for.

Yagmur K

Tongue and bone marrow were fabulous, I really liked the filet mignon too but if you like your meat moist and very pinky in the center you should go with rare instead of medium rare.

Brendan Sodikoff's French-inspired steakhouse takes Chicago's meaty history and adds an array of bone marrow , foie gras , and craft cocktails inside perhaps the sexiest room in Chicago. Read more

Everything we had was amazing. Baked goat cheese and crab cake were phenomenal starters. Bacon roasted tomato salad was the best bacon I’ve ever had. Truffle Mac and cheese was A+. Filet was fabulous

Trevor Smythe

Have a bourbon old fashioned and enjoy the best pork chop in the city . If you don't have a reservation you can eat at the bar (or wait for a table if you have a couple hours to kill).

Jon B.

The porterhouse for two was perfect: for the cost of a fillet and NY Strip , you get both but also 40-day aged. Also tried the truffle Mac and cheese this time, and that was dynamite.

JenKudu

Ambiance, service, food are all A+. The sweet potato is so simple but so damn good. The aged ribeye is worth the splurge. Such a great find :)

Chicago Tribune

The beef stroganoff is terrific; the house-made pasta is richly eggy and arrives at the table al dente ; the short-rib meat on top, glazed with sherry jus, is so tender thanks to a 10-hour braise.

Myra Rubin

Always add bone marrow to your dish! Smoked whitefish Caesar salad is a must. Classic American food , speak easy , jazzy vibe. Nice cocktails . Love this place + staff . Consistency is key. They have it!

Stacy Bo Bacy

This is the place to go to treat yourself to a spectacular, outrageously delicious steak . The ambiance and service are out of this world. I always enter in awe and leave with a smile on my face.

Christopher Floss

Babette's is a hidden gem ! It offers a diverse menu with a classic, home-cooked meal flair. The bread is amazing too! It's a great place to go for dinner or to enjoy a cocktail at the bar .

Shawn McDaniel

Best steak I've ever had, everything was cooked to a new standard of perfection. Their exemplary list of cocktails contained classics like the Vesper and Mint Julep , both made phenomenally.

The ambiance feels like you've stepped back in time with dark mood lighting , jazz music , and an almost a mysterious yet romantic feel. Read more

The bone-in filet is pretty spectacular, its buttery-soft meat perfectly seasoned, best rare and barely singed by the flame. Try their Old-Fashioned too – it’s one of the best cocktails in Chicago. Read more

PureWow

There’s smoked whitefish in the Caesar salad and Mexican elote on the sides menu. But there are no tricks with the bone-in rib eye--just tender meat with a salty, crispy crust. Read more

Great atmosphere and attentive service . Can get crowded at night so do try to make a reservation . Cocktails are well made, especially if you enjoy whisky .

Sergey

Very nice place for dates. In-bone fillet is the must, best I ever had. Great bar . Stuff is very pleasant. Book the table in advance

Kelly ????

Bone-in ribeye medium rare, elote corn , shrimp cocktail , crab cake , French fries , whiskey sundae , several cocktails = elite

Laurie Dubnow

Baked crab cake , oysters , bacon roasted tomato salad , short rib beef stroganoff , steak frites , and chocolate cream pie ! Can't wait to go back!!

Jeremy C

Get the tomato app with bacon . It is killer tasty. Great wine list , bar service and of course entrees. If you haven't been here before try the steak frites .

Craig Wattrus

I don’t normally suggest this but sit at the bar . Bartenders are really above and beyond with service. Salads are a surprise star of the show. Dry aged option didn’t add that much to the experience.

Lee Hoffman

Everything was incredible - burger , steak , broccoli , fries , chocolate Oreo cake - amazing

Elizabeth O

Magical interiors and probably the best meal of my life. The steak was so good that I might as well giving up all other meat -- nothing compares anymore! Worth the wait.

PureWow

Brendan Sodikoff is here to change the steak game with unbelievable cuts of meat, flavorful cocktails and a killer fried chicken . Read more

The small filet is melt-in-your-mouth outstanding. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating.

Melody Valverde

Great selection at the bar and the menu has a wonderful selection!!

Jordan Balderas

My favorite restaurant in Chicago ???????? Can't go wong with a steak and or their cocktails .

Adam Channell

We've been twice. The corn side is amazing. It's nice they have smaller size steaks that my wife can order and also bigger ones for myself.

Mary Alesandrini

10: We were blown away by everything we had that evening, and the prices were very good. Our server was also on point. Great evening!

Kristin

Don't overlook the side dishes. They are all amazing (especially the corn and hashbrowns ) and the portions are large enough to share.

Alexandros Plexidas

Delicious fillet mignon steak and great list of wines to choose from. I really liked the decoration and the ambience.

Lauren Meade

Spring for the dry aged beef - it's the best steak I've ever eaten, and my favorite item on the menu. Enough for 2 people for sure!

Olivia

I looooooooved it! Pleased with service, top notch drinks, you can't go wrong with any food choice. Mix of vintage and modern interior designs - fantastic.

Megan Robertson

The corn is amazing! Surprisingly my fave item of the night. Crab cakes , beef stroganoff , and steak were excellent as well . Highly recommend.

Time Out Chicago

Diners need not be huge steak fans to get a good meal; in fact, as good as the steak frites is, both the fried and roasted chicken are even better. http://tmoutchi.us/10esgeQ Read more

The drinks are good enough to justify the prices and the atmosphere (dark as hell + wood + leather) makes this a good after-work drink spot .

Ogi Kavazovic

Dry aged ribeye is overrated, don’t order it. Bread is amazing, atmosphere is amazing. Raw at solid. I’d order wagyu special next time

Jeff Carter

Had the Bavette steak . It is not the best in Chicago which I believe is at La Sardine or Le Bouchon. Sit in The Parlor downstairs

ben m

Of course, the steaks are great but start with the wedge and enjoy that thick cut bacon . Also, get a side of the corn .

Jack Hall

The peppered duck and goat cheese terrine is fantastic(pictured). Also get the veal cheeks and thick cut bacon .

Dan Darcy

Prime dry aged bone in rib eye is amazing. The Maine lobster plate is also an incredible appetizer

Deb Dietz Warner

By far the best steak restaurant in Chicago. Also try the seafood tower if you are with a group!!

Bianca

Their beef tartare it’s a must. I’d recommend the oysters , too. Not crazy about the cocktails .

Sarah Eckstein

Best restaurant in all of Chicago. Dinner , drinks, service, all things exceed my expectations. What are you waiting for?

SHAWNA P

Great atmosphere, great dining selections & spirits ! I don't think there is one subpar dish on the menu! SERIOUSLY!! #Enjoy #GreatChoice

Janette R

I simply can't remember when I've had a better meal. Seafood platter and, well , everything is to die for.

Tomato, red onion and burrata salad is a must. The tomatoes are fresh and full of flavor -- they are grown in a nearby greenhouse -- and the burrata is sweet, which offsets the balsamic vinegar well. - Ken McVay
