The Gateway

The fountain was great, also Discovery Gateway is a family favorite. However due the huge homeless population so close to the gateway you have to be careful walking around outside Gateway.

The Gateway is Salt Lake City's only open-air mall and opened for the '02 Winter Olympics. Visit the Olympic Legacy Plaza , Clark Planetarium , Discovery Gateway , and Historic Union Pacific Depot.

This was touted by a hotel as a tourist attraction ! This is no different than any other mall in any other city . No unique shops - all box stores. Nice layout though!

Stop in the Winter Parking Garage and snap a shot with the “Salt Lake City is for Lovers” sign.

We got there at 5:45 PM for a 6 PM lighting. The tree was gorgeous but the wait was very unfortunate. Please post correct time for these activities. You had a cold toddler and 2 angry parents.

Save your validation cards, they will take them even if expired. Happy Sumo and Tucanos for food. Body Shop , Brookstone, Apple Store, Sur La Table, And Urban Outfitters for shopping.

Nice - high end shopping - not a bargain hunters paradise but nice to see all the latest gadgets and fashions.

Taking kids to fountain and needing a validation? The closest is Starbucks in Barns and Noble. The Starbucks outside by Ben and Jerry's does not validate.

Used to be a homeless dumpster fire, but I will say this place is getting some positive and very needed attention. Interested to see what comes of the renovations

Excellent center/mall. Parking is tough. Recommend you get there ~10-15min prior to appt. Best parking space is underground parking , & difficult to find space. Do go. Read more

Has some great restaurants and great shopping.

Take note of any events at the ESA - parking will be scarce.

Don't buy a stranger coffee at the food court , he'll act like your best friend.

Economic japan has free refills on drinks :) sidewalk sales are the best time to shop here

This mall is completely outdoors. If the weather is bad, the shopping is too. Head over to City Creek Mall if that's the case.

Nice place to walk around! Check out the street musicians and chocolate makers.

Urban Outfitters and Barnes & Noble are my favorites here. Great atmosphere in the entire outdoor mall

Great place to stroll, and spend and evening. Also great place to take a date. Sundays parking is free.

Bring the kids, swimsuits and some towels, and play in the Olympic Legacy Fountain .

Watch out for the homeless population! Gateway is running tourists off.

Watch out on windy days the place is a giant wind tunnel down by B&N an Old Navy.
