DC DMV Inspection Station

If you do schedule an appointment online, bring your confirmation info AND stop at the front gate to tell them.

I have lived in DC for almost 16 years and have spent my share of misery at this facility. It is much, much better than it once was. They opened at 6, I was done by 6:08

Pulld up at 910am on a Thursday and was pleasantly surprised by how quickly things are moving and I'm transferring from MD. I'm estimating 30 min max. :-D

Make sure to make an appointment online. U get to skip the long line on half street and get there early. Done in 10 mins

7:30 on a Tuesday morning after a Monday close - second in line . Make an appt or get here early and it shouldn't be too bad.

Try to get in a left lane if possible. The farther left the lane the better....

Go on Wednesday or Thursday between 9 and 10AM. No lines , no wait!

All the other tips scared folks off. Behind only, like, 2 other cars means from the time we got in line to the time we were done was under 10 minutes. Whoop! 1:00 on a Saturday & no appointment .

It does not make a difference what time you arrive. I was fourth in line and the way the man lead the cars in made me only have my car inspected with about 10 cars in front of me. So So sad

Went in on Tuesday morning and was out in less then 10mins. Maybe it's just my luck, but I always have great experience here.

Came in on Christmas eve...best idea ever! There was NO ONE here! The whole thing actually took less than five minutes...they finished before I was done tweeting about there being no one here, ha

Come during the week. After Noon - takes less than 30 minutes

Pull your vehicle up as close to the next car as possible or the in inspection agent will make you move forward. Whomp.

Make an appointment for any time then come when they open. You won't have to wait long.

Got here at 1:45 and out by 1:58. Wish all dmv related services were like this inspection station.

Don't lose hope! The line actually moves quickly even on Saturdays. Worth bringing a book though.

In and out in about 15 minutes. No wait or long lines .

Book your appointment online, and then get in the appointment line at L Street, not K Street.

Saturday’s are insane. Only like 2-3 people working.

Get here as early as possible. If not the line wraps the BLOCK.

If you have to come here on a Saturday, make it your goal to arrive before 7:30am.

The inspection station is not busy at the time before rush hour and after lunch hour (on weekdays)!

Absolutely do NOT get in lane 1 (the far right lane) - that's where the buses are inspected!

Make an appointment for inspections! I thought going at a random time would be quick... Nope!

U either have patience or U gonna develope it in this long line for emissions.

Wait was ~1hr at 7:30AM on a Sat morning. Sucks I woke up early just to wait in a huge line . Last time I came in the middle of the day and only had a 10-15 min wait.

Visit dmv in Russia, guy's! (called MREO) Feel real shock!

Secret: You don't really need an appointment . Just get in line with everyone else and have your insurance/registration visible.

Do not get into the bus lane, they r separate from cars. If the line is long on Half St., plan on at least 45 minutes!

Not happy to get up early and be 4th in line and car inspected like number 30

Around 830 on a Wednesday is a good time.

The most poorly managed government service in DC. Extremely inconvenient location, layout and hours of operation.

Come early...like 7:00 am. Closed Mondays.
