Kex Hostel

Slowly falling out of favor along with the retro-beatenup-interior-chic. Kitchen makes value-for-money dishes without the value part. Still deserves as recommendation for the atmosphere.

Didn't stay here, just returned for many meals. The bar is quiet and cozy for on week days. The holiday egg nog was especially good, and so was my birthday cake (complete with votive candle)!

This is the spot! To drink (I did), to eat (we did) or to stay (we didn't). Great space, vibe, beer & food.

Lovely smaller and bigger bites. Really liked the Fried and foamy potatoes with smoked trout and the bone marrow . Also caters to less arctic taste ;).

My greatest hostel experience so far! Very cozy , friendly staff and really amazing food! Great spot to watch the northern lights! ;)

Terrific Hostel . Amazing decor, great vibes, walking distance to all the central reykjavik sites you'd want to see.

Didn't stay here, but had a really good evening with #kexjazz. Great music , full of people (and even locals) and nice atmosphere. Bar was suggested by a local.

Don't get me started on the burger they offer at Kex. It's the reason I go there again and again. It's what makes me remember how great this Earth we live on is.

Nice for a hostel . Great food too and you'll meet a lot of interesting people. The single rooms are nice, shared bathrooms are what you expect from a hostel .

Kex Hostel • Bar & Restaurant • Great local craft beers , good food: try Grilled pork rib that goes perfectly with the Mixed salad , (oil-dressing and onions in sour beer ).

Always the first place I go when I arrive and the last place where spent time before I leave. Great bar good, beer and amazing views over the bay .

Bar with a rustic aesthetic, but nice views over the sea. Best place for a large get-together. Recommendation: Bring all your friends

Get the braised beef cheek and Viking stout . Soak in the hipster vibes then get your beard trimmed by the bar .

Best hostel . Ever. Young, hip & pretty much self-contained (bar , restaurant , hair salon , laundry are all inside), and overlooking the water!! I'll never stay anywhere else in this city .

The interior looks like it was decorated by Wes Anderson's set designers. The bar/restaurant has great food and a good selection of Icelandic microbrews .

A fun and lively hostel with live music , a delicious burger and a fantastic vibe. Very cool indeed!

Friend loved the cauliflower side and ordered it 2 days in a row. Bar is lively and frequented by the locals.

If you're not staying at Kex while in Reykjavik you should at least stop bye for a coffee or a beer !

I like a lot my staying here, all the staff was nice and the atmosphere was great!

Just go for the burger . You know you want to. Oh, and sit by the window and look over the stunning bay and mountains .

Most bars in Reykjavik are either dark, smelly or empty. The Kex hostel restaurant/bar was packed on a Friday night and supercosy. We ended up staying much longer than planned.

Awesome place! Like the Ace Hotel PDX or NYC, very cool old timey aesthetic, great food, and affordable dorm style hostel or private rooms!

This hostel is incredible. Clean , hipster but not pretentious , fantastic breakfast every morning, cool bar with great food at night, staff are friendly & helpful. The world needs more KEX hostels!

Chicken wings are a must have here, beef tenderloin never wrongs you and the cumin mayo is for specialists

All too easy to spend your entire trip just inside Kex— this place is a mini-Mecca of digital nomad hipsterdom.

Great bar , great menu, great atmosphere, great decor, great entertainment, great rooms, awful wi-fi connection.

Worth dropping by the uber-cool bar even if you're not staying here (40something € for a bunk bed per night seems a bit excessive, no? It's still a bunk bed after all.)

I can honestly say this is definately one of the top 3 cafés/restaurants in the country ! No steak for me, I like it simple, tasty and perfect!
