This is Oakland's equivalent of LA's famed Griffith Park . Trails for all levels of ability, horse stables , biking and even the Chabot Space Center. You could spend days hiking all the trails !
A wonderous place with easy and hard trails . Bees around sunny picnic area . There are other place to picnic in the woods.
I really liked it here. It was kinda like Sequoia National Forest but with Redwoods . I regret not having the time to go to the redwood forest north of here.
A great place to get lost. Check out the "hikers only" Golden Spike and Toyona Trails . Shady forest hikes that are perfect for summer.
Find the fallen redwood at the bottom of Tres Sendas. Stand on top of it, raise your hands to the sky, and be like one of the giants surrounding you.
Dense network of well traveled trails . If looking for isolation, this isn't the place. Good for runs, hikes and mountain biking . Dog friendly too.
Good for hiking in summer. Little bit tough trails give us refreshments.
Great 8 mile perimeter hike around the park with dogs off leash. The quiet shaded walk up the valley floor is shorter and dogs mut be on leash.
Take the French Trail all the way from the Redwood to Skyline gates. Then leisurely loop back via the Stream Trail .

You can't go wrong with a hike along the Stream Trail , cool and green and walkable even after recent winter rains!
An Oakland gem. A beautiful valley and steam with Redwoods on its banks . All MTB is on fire roads . Singletracks are all poach.
Up on top off a hill roads , ( skyline road ) love nature , and big trees , great views , well maintained , dogs off leash .
Hard to believe you're in Oakland on this beautiful forest hike (easy). There's a little playground for kids near the entrance. Free parking on weekdays.

Great day hiking and free parking ! Sometimes the park brings in hundreds of sheep to graze to prevent fires, making a fun sight for the kiddos.
Lots of easy trails for kids and grandparents - east ridge and stream

Great place for picnics . Beware: no cell service. Go to the ranger station for wifi .
