Stax Museum of American Soul Music

The best music museum in Memphis. Traces the whole journey of Soul from its roots to the heights of the 60s and 70s. Recreated in the original Stax Records location.

I checked with a few locals and they recommended Staci museum over the rock n soul museum . Great place and lots to learn about the origins of soul music . The video in the beginning is also great.

One of the best Memphis stops! Wether you like to read every line or walk through and dance it's a beautiful historical journey & landmark . And the proceeds go to the school attached!! Great cause! ❤️

The history and present of Stax are not to be missed. The museum is a a combination of fantastic music , interesting history and cool memorabilia . A Memphis must do for music lovers

Rubin Studdard music camp visited Stax on yesterday, had a blast! Our tour guide was fantastic and his love for music served us well . I have a better appreciation for Memphis musical roots.

This museum is originally the home of the Stax Record Company which went bankrupt in 1976. The museum built in 2003 by anonymous philanthropists wanted to revitalize the surrounding community.

Give yourself time to go through the entire museum - it's phenomenal and you don't want to rush and miss any of the history of this incredible music label.

Visiting Memphis for Black History Month? Stax is an excellent source of history about the rise of black music in Memphis. Stax artists include: Isaac Hayes , Otis Redding , Jean Knight and Sam & Dave.

One of the best museums I've been to in a while. Great building, great history. And the Isaac Hayes car trumps anything you will see at the Smithsonian.

My favorite museum I visited in Memphis. Isaac Hayes car is something every person needs to see in all its glory at least once in your life. Best car ever.

Two things you have to do at Stax: 1. Dance on the Soul Train dance floor .2. Be appropriately reverent in front of Isaac Hayes ' car.

I think my favorite part of the American Soul museum is that they have Dick Cheney's unused soul on display.
