The Shagwong may also be a famous fishing spot just off the shores of Montauk, but you won't forget their steaks that are seared to perfection. Scallops and/or fried calamari are also worth the wait.
This is the heart of real Montauk. Food is good, the bar is the real thing and the crowd is reasonably tolerant of interlopers.
If something on the menu is described as "fried", order it immediately. Wash everything down with a Stella and fall asleep on a boat. Your Montauk vacation is complete.
Shagwong renovated before summer 2016. A little spiffed up yet the inside is mostly the same. Menu is not very entree-heavy anymore, the mains are mostly sandwiches now. Ask for the specials though

Open in the winter; nice, casual atmosphere . Raw bar + standard bar fare. Burgers and fish sandwich looked good.

A gross-ass dive that's exactly what you want out of it. Live music is solid, beer is cold, but I wouldn't eat there.
The food was not bad. It was a wait just to get a chicken Caesar salad . Didn’t have much in the way of seafood for this time of year, which was slightly disappointing.
Surprisingly delicious food! I'm a raw clam fanatic, and these might be the best clams I've ever had.
This is a good place to go for a late dinner . They have a big choice of seafood , meat and poultry .

prices on drinks changed within a hour from 15 to 19 depending on which bartender you get . Quite rude also ..

My favorite restaurant in Montauk. They discontinued the peppers appetizer but still have their signature dishes like the spicy tuna BLT chalupa. The Cavatelli and the stiped bass are off the hook. - Ashley Cho
