It's a full experience shrine visit in the heart of Tokyo. Avoid going on a really hot day,or if you do, please take water with you it's easy to loose yourself in the surroundings

One of the most famous shrines in Japan. You must be amazed at its huge area. The interesting thing that I found is there are displays of wine barrels not only Sake barrels. Please find it!

It’s a must see when in Tokyo. It is free, visited during the autumn festival . beautiful park , nature, Shrine , it is super peaceful and you can spend hours just walking around.

The shrine is under renovation but you can still feel the peace and serenity . There's a nearby 'Homotsuden' (Treasure Museum ), allocate 1 day of your visit here so you could roam around.

Beautiful shrine located near Yoyogi Park . The path to the shrine is very photogenic. The shrine itself was also awesome. I go back every time I come to Tokyo. Bring walking shoes for the gravel path!

If you're after a peaceful , undisturbed experience, I'd suggest going very early/avoiding weekends. Aside: Tourists will also make you feel like a zoo animal if you happen to be attending a wedding.

this is a place to take in a little history and to get away from the hustle and bustle a midst the city . weekdays bring your lunch here and unplug. weekends get your walking shoes on and explore.

peaceful was the first impression I got when I first visited the most important shinto shrine in Tokyo . You are very lucky if able to see a traditional wedding Japanese ceremony here. #TravelingTokyo

The main attraction for me was actually the forest around the shrine . For a short time you can forget that you are actually in one of the busiest cities in the world.

Take a walk through the park before heading to the shrine . The shrine is very peaceful . Stand in the center of courtyard and take it all in. Closes at 5pm.

Beautiful shrine with very large grounds to stroll around. The only shrine dedicated to people, the Emperor and Empress. I recommend spending a little to get into the Empresses garden . Calm and serene

A must visited place next to Harajuku station , enjoy walking along the way to the shrine inside. All the area covering by the big tree , good atmosphere, and nice place.

Definitely a must see in Japan. This time (winter) they closed at 4pm. If you are lucky enough, you'll see a traditional bride and groom ;)

It's so peaceful here and it's a great place to relax with nature. It's located right next to Shibuya station and neighborhood . Write a wish to the temple with an optional donation.

If you visit Yoyogi Park , check this shrine out. Its nice and we we're lucky and could observe a wedding.

This famous Shinto Shrine is dedicated to the Emperor Meiji and his Consort. Nearly 1000,000 trees were planted at the time of enshrinement, and form the solemn forest surrounding the area today.

Escape the swarming Shibuya and get some quietness in the huge park surrounding the shrine . The walk is definetely worthy.

If you're visiting the Harajuku area, it's most ideal to alight at Kita-sando Station, enter the shrine 's north entrance, and exit at its south. Then hop on the subway at Meiji-jingumae Station.

You can't really go inside the facilities if you aren't attending a ceremony. So, there is not much to see. Head to the prayer wall where people hang up their wishes. Some are hilarious!! ????????????

Nice shrine in a big area. But like many other places in Tokyo its missing pkaces where you can sit and relax to take the whole thing in.

Very nice in the evening too when they light the lanterns. Lanterns are individually lit by hand using candles.

An extremely peaceful and well-maintained shrine . Come here to get away from the hustle and bustle and appreciate some culture and religion.

In Yoyogi park off JR Harajuku stn, must see when in Tokyo. Go on a Sunday, that area is popular then.

On Saturdays if you are lucky you may see traditional Japanese wedding ceremonies (for free). They are lovely.

Beautiful walkways with lots of history. It was a great way to start my day after a walk through Yoyogi Park before a day in Harajuku.

Find peace and serenity at this Shinto Shrine in Shibuya. Make sure to visit both major areas (Naien and Gaien). You can also write a prayer on a piece of paper and then tie it to the wall of prayer.
