The oldest restaurant in Denver, and Colorado. A National Register of Historical Places serving up Wild West specialties: beef , elk , buffalo, alligator , and Rocky Mountain Oysters . A must see!
Although you can order everything from buffalo to yak to rattlesnake here, the Big Steak -- big indeed, bloody rare and served with all the trimmings -- is the dish to get. Read more
The Buckhorn boasts the best Rocky Mountain Oysters in the West. Take a seat, swallow your pride (& some), and brave the culinary frontier. This swinging sirloin actually tastes similar to calimari .
Saddle up at the original bar located upstairs and ask for Buffalo Bill’s signature cocktail : bourbon & apple juice . Talk history and ghost stories with Martin, the ace manning the counter.
Rocky Mountain oysters were out, but smoked buffalo sausage and sirloin game tips were delicious (recommended by our waiter ). Very cool place to check out. Tons of Wild West taxidermy animals around!
Love this place - oldest restaurant in Denver. If you’re into taxidermy , this place is amazing!!
The long member in the top left corner that resembles a cane is actually an elk penis. The bartender would literally beat ruthless customers that acted like “dicks” with one.
The original white oak bar and backbar are upstairs in the Victorian lounge . Check it out and order a Buffalo Bill Cocktail while you're at it.
Excellent food. Has both game and regular beef depending on what your looking for. Lot of history here and definitely worth a stop.
Established in 1893, it is Denver's oldest and most unique restaurant ! The Buckhorn Exchange was issued Colorado’s Liquor License No . 1, when the prohibition laws were repealed in 1933. Read more
Very nice people. Martin is a great bartender at the upstairs bar .
Expect good service and a menu of different meats, like buffalo, elk , quail , etc. Walk around after dinner to look at the exhibits from this storied place.
Our table got both the brownie and the apple pie . Though the pie was good, it wasn't great. The brownie , on the other hand, made me want more. Complementing the rest of the, grand, meal of game.
The Buckhorn is Denver's oldest restaurant and has been serving Old West Fare since 1893! The house specialty is the Rocky Mountain Oyster !
Everything was amazing and the service was top notch. Loved checking out all of the artifacts and taxidermy , too.
Unique decor/history and food. Tip - if you want the Big Steak , order early it takes at least 30 minutes once the order is in.
Loved the lamb , the Buffalo prime rib was a bit too much for me. Should have gotten the elk .
Good buffalo meat , excellent apple pie , fantastic service
Home of CO liquor license #1 there are three things you have to try...The Buffalo Bill Cocktail , Rattlesnake , and Mountain Oysters !!!!
Loved it! Had the buffalo steak ! Wonderful! Camille was excellent!
Bison sausage was super yummy. Had the pot roast and ribs , both were excellent!
Last time I was here the bartender made me a couple of different martini's , tonight the bartender said, "We only make cosmos here". Get a different job if you don't want to be a bartender ! Thanks!
Buffalo prime rib and the Colorado lamb . The other meats can be hit or miss (tough or gamey)
A must-visit in #Denver! The Old West lives on here! It's Denver's oldest restaurant !
Amazing location, atmosphere and food. Had a great bison steak , will definitely return
The best steaks ever! Plus very friendly service ! Love it!
Amazing wait staff ! If you ask, they’ll mix and match any of the proteins.
Nice stop right off the light rail at 10th and Osage! Good little beer stop!
Family owned and operated for close to three decades. The porterhouse rivals any in the West.
Try the mountain oysters . Also, quail , gaming hen and duck. This place is extremely historic and rich in old west history.
Since you're here and this place was the 1st. one to be allowed to sell alcohol after the prohibition, order an Odell 90 Shilling, locally brewed in Colorado!
Great buffalo prime rib with au jus - very lean and full-flavored!
Very cool place to have dinner . Good is good and there's lots to look at
I came here after watching Bizarre Foods! Great place! Get the bison it's really good!
If you have a chance stop by and enjoy.
The bison prime rib is worth every penny. Try it with the mushrooms .
Denver's oldest and most unique restaurant , as seen on Man v Food: Denver!
Try the Rocky Mountain oysters !
A Denver classic. Great steaks . Awesome atmosphere.
Take a close look at the walls. There is more hung on them than trophy animals. This place is a veritable museum of Denver, Colorado and Western history. Read more

The "Dutch Lunch " is an awesome meal for the price. You get a little bit of everything and it is all great.
I did not have any of the more exotic meats but I liked my ribs
Go for the combo. Elk , Buffalo and Quail , then thank me.

Beautiful field. It was walking distance from our hotel. Concessions were very reasonably priced as far as concessions go. Lots of fun and enjoyed watching the game. - Tanya Wallace
I really enjoyed the Shepherd's pie with tasty lamb chunks. Add a splash of Railyard hot sauce to kick it up a notch. - Ken Hampel
