Pena Palace

It really looks like what it is on the photo. Gorgeous! We just hiked up the palace from the entrance instead of taking the 3€ transport bus . High cross is worth the hike . The view is phenomenal.

Good luck with finding a parking spot ! Go to the "Alternative Parking " (Estacionamento Alternativo), and take a ride to the main entrance and ticket booth for the palace .

The Palaces are far from Sintra's Historical Center. Instead of the walking, try buying a 434 bus ticket you can use all day long, from one place to the next one.

A must see if you are in Portugal. UNESCO site which is fairytale, whimsical and lots of colours. If you go in fog, it will feel mysteriousl magical! Shuttle costs €3. Bus 434 to palace .

An easy train / car from Lisbon , this whimsical palace is worth the trip. If you’re in a hiking mood, you can extend the day in the park behind, but the palace alone is a few hours of beauty

The inside of the palace is a typical museum with a set path. The outside and the rest of the garden is way more interesting to explore.

Awesome to walk around the palace in the park . You can just walk on the palace for free, so you don't really NEED to buy a ticket for that.

Like Bavaria's Neuschwanstein, this was built by royalty in the mid-19th century to mimic a romantic fairytale castle , long after castles had lost their usefulness. Tour this colorful fantasy land.

Gorgeous palace ! Tuk tuk-ing up to it is the way to go, otherwise you're in for an uphill walk!

Such a beautiful place. NOT just the palace but also the village of Sintra. If you are in Lisbon for a visit don't forget to see Sintra and this palace .

Make sure to wear sneakers cause there's lots of walking & hilly! Make sure to take bus shuttle to palace ... Too long a walk!

You should definetely see this fairy palace and the garden . It is one of the fantastic places ever seen, awesome. But I will unfortunately not tell the same things for the interior.

There is a car that can take you around the park . Same as the mini bus drop off point for castle entrance on top. Car comes every 25mins, worthwhile as the park area is too big unless you have time

avoid the sun heat in the summer and go there late afternoon to make th best of the outdoor places.. enjoy the view from the above and the take a look at the old interior design of the palace 's rooms.

One of the attractions in your visit to Sintra. It's recommended to buy the combined entrance in Palacio Nacional, which includes other castles in Sintra, save money and don't wait for the queues.

Get there before they open so you can have a few minutes to yourself around the palace . Otherwise, you’ll be fighting the crowds your entire visit.

Beautiful palace , well worth the hike . You thought you were up high when on top of the castelo, then suddenly you're looking down upon it.

Try come here on a clear day or you won't be seeing much of the outside, the interior offers a rare glimpse into the life of a 19th century Royal

With clear skies you can have great views from the Balconies . There’s a huge garden around the palace too.

The palace is so colorful, but it's a tell to walk up to the palace . Rent a tuk-tuk to get back down the hill instead of hopping the shuttle bus .

Arrive just before 9:30, and do the Palace first, as the queues get really long after 10! Do the outside bits and garden after.

A guided tour helps; rather long walk, a bus also available. The castle is quite beautiful, the views also, like in a fairy tale ....

This palace is worth a trip to Sintra. It is so romantic and beautiful. Take your time when looking at all the rooms and take in all the lovely details.

finding a place to park is difficult so park by the lagos lakes and walk 10 min to the entrance of the palace .. then get the bus which comes every 15 min to drop u straight at the palace 's doors..

Just do the hike . In my POV visiting the inside of the castle is a waste of time. Take the walk. via Villa Sassetti up to the castle . Best views from there.

The Pena Palace stands as a perfect example of the romantic architecture that can be found in Sintra.

Remember the view is much better after climbing! Don't take a bus . Look for black swans in a lake :)

A must visit and my personal favorite place in Sintra. This place is HUGE inside. The palace colors are jaw dropping, the gardens vast. More than worth the money.

Unreal palace on a hilltop overlooking a massive, manicured park . Worth 3hrs minimum.

The view behind the palace is amazing. Take enough time to see also the gardens !

Make sure to come as early as possible. At 10 AM queues to enter the park and the palace were manageable, 30 min later waiting times were as long as 2 hours.

Well , the castle is really something but to get in you must go up the mountain by car or tuktuk for €5 and the same amount down. The line took 1,5 h to get inside the castle so we skipped it. Shitty!

Worth the visit but make time to see other spots in Sintra!

Go as early as possible to avoid the horrific crowd, plus for photos, it is better as castle entrance faces the east.

Buy tickets in advance at hotel and ask them to print out the ticket to skip the crazy long lines

Nice palace ....should stay overnight for a worth visit of many places in Sintra....

The park has a lot of small foot-paths. No need to spend your time on the main road : look around :)
