Castle of the Moors is a castle Sintra located in Portugal.
Estr. da Pena (Parques de Sintra-Monte da Lua) 2710-609 Sintra Portugal
An 8th century castle that was partially rebuilt in the 19th century. It includes a ruined chapel and a Moorish cistern . See one of Portugal's medieval treasures and take in the views .
Beautiful ruins of an ancient moorish castle in Sintra. Entrance fee is not cheap but the views over the surroundings and Palácio da Pena are stunning and well worth the price.
If you’re doing a Sintra day trip, I would recommend Moorish castle and the Pena Palace . Can buy your tickets online in advance for a slight discount too. View from it is breathtaking.
absolute worth the trip and hike up to the castle top! although this may not be the best for any who are scared of heights as you feel as high as the clouds up there
Loved it! To really see the nooks and crannies of the Sintra parks you need true stamina and Moorish Castle is not for the faint of heart. I had vertigo but fought through it. It's exhilarating!
10 mins downhill walk from the palace of Pena. it's amazing to take a walk along the wall of the castle . you can also take the picture of the Pena from here.
Beautiful castle - don't miss it if you're in Sintra. But make sure you have comfortable shoes - sneakers would be the best option.
The castle is close to park Pena and is worth visiting it. Just do it on a sunny day; we had clouds and fog that day
Take that hike ! Up the hill and then up to all the towers in the castle and take a memorable photo of Sintra as your background.
Great views from the towers. Very well maintained vegetation all around.
Amazing place full of history!! Built by the Moors as a fortress, and kept this function during Christian Portugal. The views of breathtaking!!!
Afraid of heights? You will enjoy this..! ;) A moorish castle on a mountain top, overgrown with trees , ferns and moss. Simply beautiful!
Unexpected surprise: I liked the place very much! Good view of the surroundings up to Lisbon!
The castle is great but avoid at all costs the walking path by the mountain , from the church . It's big and horrible - by car you can actually get very near Mouros and Pena castles .
Affords beautiful views of Sintra and Lisbon. A lot of steep stairs and quite scary heights.
8th century castle that was partially rebuilt by Dom Fernando II in the 19th century. It includes a ruined chapel and Moorish cistern . See one of Portugal's medieval treasures and take in the views .
Sintra, Portugal, scenic view , enjoy the panoramic view and palace de Pena
The pedestrian path is tricky to find....it's hidden within the tourist shops across from the National Palace .
Amazing view on the Palaces of the region and the valley. Can't recommend enough
Must see in Sintra. Come early. It gets super crowded and the walkways are narrow.
Awesome castle , incredible views . You can really picture the life in it when it was built. A bus is available to get to it, but is nicer to walk using a GR footpath that starts near the town .
Beautiful place, with a wonderful view
From the old part of town , take the walking trail up to Castelo dos Mouros. Make sure to start before 6 pm so that you get to the top before they close the inside of the castle !
Get the castle and palace tickets together so it’s cheaper!
A must! Great view , beautiful nature.
This is likely the most authentic castle I've been to in Europe. If you're on the sightseeing bus , definitely stop for this one.
Very well preserved. History in every single stone. Awesome views of Sintra .
Breathtaking view from the top!!
Incredible views of Sintra & Palacio da Pena in particular. Highly recommended.
Ticket office and entrance just a few minutes walk from the main Pena Palace entrance.
If you have good legs, try hiking all the way up instead of driving! It's literally breathtaking!
Stop along the way and take pictures with the #beautiful view ????
The view is worth climbing all those walls.
Amazing views over Sintra. Bring a jacket as the weather can be very different up top.
You need to go here. So much fun.
Climb to the top it's a good exercise. Then enjoy the view and play knight in shining armour.
In summer, start as early I am the morning as possible. It gets crowded soon
If you have a Lisbon card, make sure you bring your 'guide book ' with you too, because otherwise they won't give you your discount !
The best castle in Sintra. Views are breathtaking.
Charming place with a ton of history
absolutely beautiful if you’re in the area go
A freaking castle on top of a jungle. Leave your acrophobia home.
Don't miss the Arabic Sintra flag
Come to Sintra, walk up to the most famous Castle of the Moors and enjoy the great view !
Walk up it's a challenge but we'll worth it
This place is just breathtaking! Don't miss it!!

Magical place, really worth the 6 Euros. So much to see and small hidden places. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. - S.M.
Beautiful but too expensive if you pay entrance and have to pay €5 pp for the tuk-tuk both ways. - Michael B.
We went with low expectations but it surpassed the all, beautiful place, fantastic view! Fomos com a expectativa baixa e fomos surpreendidos, lugar lindo, vista mais linda ainda!! Vale a pena - Romeu Junior
The loveliest place in Sintra and its A must , in my opinion needs a whole day to see and enjoy the place - M R
Excellent view! Beware of Pina Colada Sexy. Very tasty pineapple drinks. I bought two, but she charged my card for three! Pay cash. - Derek West
