Wow! We had the stewed chicken and stuffed shrimp ! Both delish.. my fave was the chicken ! Love the ambiance... Surrounded by art and jazz tunes . Very friendly staff too!
When the original chef is still cooking in her 90's you know you've found a gem. Dooky Chase has been serving world class fried chicken and southern sides to presidents & tourists alike buffet style .
Esquire: Locals still gussy up for lunch buffet (including legendary fried chx). Make sure somebody orders Creole classic Shrimp Clemenceau—shrimp, crispy potatoes , ham , &mushrooms in garlic .
Lunch buffet was very good, particularly the red beans and rice , spinach , and fried chicken . Very historic place and beautiful inside too.
The gumbo is by far the best I've had. After your done eating, make sure you check out all the artwork in the many rooms
Get the lunch buffet . Honestly the fired chicken was just ok. The eggplant casserole was amazing! Red beans and rice then best I've had. Yams A++. Potato salad pretty good if you like mustard .
Their fried chicken is perfection!

Juiciest fried chicken I've ever had. Order it fresh, not the buffet fried chicken that sits on the tray.
Best fried chicken ever! Go early for the lunch buffet to skip the wait and get the warmest, juiciest pieces of chicken .
This is my must-go-to place. I stop in here every time I'm in town . I love the staff , the food, and the artwork.
The fried chicken rivals that at nearby Willie Mae’s, and the fried catfish will be some of the best you’ve ever had. [Eater 38 Member]
Old School Classic Creole: Dooky Chase. Ms. Leah Chase is a New Orleans institution in her own right, and a pillar of the African American community in New Orleans.
The lunch buffet is great! Peach cobbler is excellent! But, the wait can be a bit long for a business lunch . Go when you aren't in a hurry and savor the experience!
Everything the buffet was oh so good. Peach cobbler great????
Old fashioned and fried chicken with some local hot sauce . Epic. Gumbo isn't all that bad either. Pecan pie is awesome too!
This Cajun and Creole joint is famous for its classic soul food , gloriously influenced by the city 's French and Italian traditions.

In my opinion, I can’t see why this place is ranked #2. Anyways, the food is okay not the best and it’s also overhyped.
