Penang food. Glad to chance on Simei Penang Laksa Specialty #01-199. A welcome addition to the rows & rows of usual local fare . Laksa sauce was light but still punchy. Will try char kway teow next

The sungei road laksa & mee siam , the xing yun hainanese chicken rice (come early it closes at 2pm); so many eats! Only gripe is that it gets really warm so cool down with fruit juice and iced drinks!

Minced meat U mian. Impressed. Noodles were ‘q’ (chewy). Aromatic black sauce . Tasty vegetable soup . Only gripe is egg was hard boiled rather than the soft yolk advertised (I was curious)

Handmade Teochew kueh . Lai Heng #01-218 is so busy on weekends that their kuehs fly off the stove when made & cooked on the spot. Enjoyed soon kueh & guchai kueh. Png kueh filling cd be tastier

The Muslim stall at the far end has the best ingredients eaten w rice ☺

Queue for the fried dough sticks 'you tiao' or 'yucharkuay'. It's warm, freshly fried, and not too salty. Enjoy it with a hot cup of kopi!

Tried the Teochew kueh. Wasn't impressed; hyped up without reason. Zi zhar was good & cheap ! Enjoyed it more than the kueh.

Xing yun hainanese boneless chicken rice is argubly one of the best there is in Singapore. Period. Try it and you will never be the same again!

There's 2 bak kut teh stalls here that's famous. Different styles too. Light and dark. The pork trotter is something you must try. Only from the light side.
