Don't miss the opportunity to pay a visit in this magnificent collection of Greek history . So great rare findings that highlight the greatness of the Greek ancient civilisation.
Outstanding collection of masterpieces under one roof.. best museum I have ever visited.. for students free entrance ????❤️
Honestly, favorite museum of all time. It houses many amazing finds like the mask of Agamemnon, statue of Zeus/Poseidon (disputed), statue of Aphrodite fighting off a satyr... Truly worth the visit!
Τhe largest archaeological museum in Greece and one of the most important museums in the world, founded at the end of the 19th century to house more than 11,000 antiquities from all over Greece.
My favorite museum in all of Athens. Unfortunately didn't have time to finish it all because there's so much and it's so fascinating. You can't miss it.
“The Countless Aspects of Beauty” is the third & last exhibition of a fascinating trilogy aiming to showcase the museum’s vast & impressive collections on the occasion of its 150th anniversary. Read more
The gift shop operates on a separate schedule from the museum 's opening hours, closing earlier on some days. It might be best to visit the shop before the museum exhibitions .
The biggest museum in Athens, containing exhibits and artefacts from different periods of the Greek history . Relive all the glorious moments of the Antiquity! Operates all week long (Monday-Sunday).
Exceptional architecture . Glorious exhibition . Plus an amazing café . It covers every aspect of the unique ancient times of Greece. Definately one of the most prestigious collections worldwide.
A must see! Give yourself half a day if you want to read and see it all. Go later in the afternoon to avoid crowds
A must-see. If you're doing a trip to Greece save this until the (near) end: there's a lot in here and it will be easier to follow along if you've already had some recent exposure to Greek history
One of the best history museums I've been in. Enormous collection that is perfectly organized by date and period; extensive descriptions, huge amount of information overall.
You'll need way more time here than you think (I stupidly left it for the morning before my flight and regret it). The cafe has a charming view of the garden , but can't speak for the food.
Very good exhibition of ancient artifacts of Greece. A lot of exponents. Be ready to spent at least 2 hours here.
Beautiful collection of art ! Go early in the morning and avoid the crowds for a peaceful stroll in the museum :)
It houses some of the most important artifacts of Greek, Egyptian and Roman Culture. Plan at least 2 hours to visit it, it's an amazing museum !
On of the biggest and greatest museums I've ever been. It doesn't mind if you have knowledge of archaelogy or not, it's worth to visit this museum (human history).
Knowledge bombardment from ancient times! A must-visit if you are interested in the history. Would be better if the walk- through was designed so as to ease the experience.
Houses some of the most important artefacts from a variety of Greek locations from prehistory to late antiquity .
A great museum that you can learn many things about the European and Greek history . The first Sunday of the month offers you free entrance.
definitely worth a visit but you’ve got to be pretty in to vases to not get a bit exhausted. kind of wish they just picked their top 10 favourite vases rather than top 1,000,000.
The bathrooms are to your left before you scan your ticket and enter. They can also be accessed once you come around just passed the cafe .
We visited on a Tuesday. A line formed around 15 mins before the 1pm opening so we didn’t get inside until around 1:30. Arrive early to beat the line
Since 01/11/2012 the opening hours: Monday:13:00-20:00, Tuesday-Sunday&holidays:08:00-15:00.The Museum is closed on 25-26/12, 01/01, 25/03, Orthodox Easter Sunday & 01/05.

The National and Archaeological Museum of Athens was designed by L.Lange and P. Kalkos (architects) and modified by E.Ziller (facade and stoas) probably in 1885
Just the right amount of beauty and knowledge for a 90 minutes visit. Entrance for an adult is €12.
Well worth the time. Allow for at least 2 hours. As mentioned, posters provide nice overview history of the region. Nice cafe as well .
Pace yourself. You will need a lot of time here. Make sure to check out their Egyptian collection. Overall, I think one of the best museums I have been to in the whole world.
The National Archaeological Museum of Athens is the largest archaeological museum in Greece with more than 11,000 exhibits spread over a total of 8,000 square meters, built at the end of 19th century
It's a big museum . Reserve 3 or 4 hours to see part of the collection. To see all the museum , you have to go two days. Costs 8 euros.
Treasuries of Greek civilization . Probably the richest museum of the World over the classic art.Not for the Greek public sector though. Security guides ignorant and lazy, facilities back to 80.
