銅像造立の活動を最初に行った福島県大玉村 出身の玉応不三雄の意志を日本医師 会・北里研究所 ・野口英世記念会等が引き継ぎ、昭和26年3月に現在の上野公園 の地に建立。月は異なるものの英世の命日である同月21日に除幕式が行われた。 なお、銅像前面の標示石・敷石は昭和四十六年に会津会が設置したものである。

The Museum’s garden is a must visit. Schedule 3-4 hours for this, it’s big, with multiple buildings and sitting outside by the pond is so relaxing! - Racha
