Sure there's the world-class art downstairs by history's best painters , but don't miss exhibits on the top floor. There's part of a monastery , temple , and a Japanese tea house all INSIDE the museum .
I went there to see the steps from rocky the movie :D and then I saw the museum and I was amazed by what I saw so I entered and it was marvelous inside. I would definitely recommend it to anybody.

The exhibits are very good and awesome to see even though you have to pay admission in order to enter the historic building . Loved viewing the ancient armor exhibits . The management &staff are helpful

Wonderful museum I was lucky enough to work here when I was in college and living downtown. Love the modern art section and if they haven't changed things they have free admission on Sundays
One word: STELLAR. Or how about BREATHTAKING...I came during an impressionist exhibit that was well worth the extra $5. You get access to 3 locations and are allowed 2 days to enjoy every single bit!
Van Gogh sunflowers is here! Roomful of Monet's ! Largest collection I've seen in the states including the Japanese bridge with waterlilies. Plenty to explore.
This is one of the largest art museums in the United States , with more than 227,000 pieces but a big attraction for its annual visitors is the 25 or more special exhibitions it puts on each year.
Famous for its entry stairs (the ones Rocky sprinted up) as well as its massive collection. Work spans from medieval to modern, and its Art After 5 events bring a party feel to the hushed environs.
At Art After 5, Fridays from 5–8:45, the Great Stair Hall is transformed with performances , cocktails , apps and desserts . The restaurant is open for dinner from 5-7.
Definitely a Philadelphia spot that you should visit. You must see the rocky statue and run up the steps. It is marvelous inside and has some of the most interesting art works I have ever seen.
Not only did Rocky Balboa run the steps, Mac and Carmen from It's Always Sunny did too. Once you finish your celebratory dance at the top, step inside one of the greatest art museums in the world.
If you've yet to try Art After 5, you really should try it. Fun unique date idea!
A massively underrated treasure of a museum . Lots of solid works herein; it's a shame how overlooked it is compared to NYC and DC museums .

They have... Like everything. Their impressionist art collection was pretty exhaustive. Don't use flash!
Admission is $20, not free like the DC museums . The scenery and trail behind the museum are awesome as well .

Membership for students is only $40 per year and you get free access to four museums . Parking is free for the first hour too and $8 for the following four hours!
Don't just visit for the Rocky steps . The museum is of European caliber.
Can't miss while in Philly. Beautiful pieces. Make sure you get a map so you're not overwhelmed. Lots of free activists too!
Ran the steps and enjoyed the wonderful art pieces. Recommendation... Park in the neighborhood , walk around, grab a cheesesteak and enjoy the sights.

Hands down - the 3rd floor period rooms are gorgeous and luscious.
Lots of great pieces by Van Gogh, Monet, Cezanne, Picasso, Pollock and lots of different pieces from all over the world.

Also if you have trouble with the steps they have another entrance around the back where you can be admitted and if you are disabled there is an elevator to get to the other floors:)
Make a good impression(ist) at this classic museum . Mid-eastern architecture , oriental ornament, armor collection & renaissance 2 contemporary painting . Don't miss the permanent Duchamp exhibit .
What a great mueseum!! So much to see and the staff was very helpful. Highlight was seeing Diana by Saint Gaudens.
Very interesting rooms where they've imported entire floors, doorways, walls to add to the art experience.

Iconic! Beautiful grounds and the Rocky stairs and statue to boot.
You could get lost exploring this place. And if you go to certain dart schools here you get a nice admissions discount !

After hours is when the party really starts, park at the top of the steps and see the most spectacular view of Philadelphia!
Always crowded as people are always doing the Rocky challenge, but the views of the city are undeniably stunning - JH H-D
