Garden is great and they do/did have an ale loyalty card! Usually play decent (indie) music in the background too.
Nice bar with a decent beer selection . The Restaurant isn't bad - standard gastropub food. Bar staff definitely work to their own pace, and you can wait to be served even when the bar is quiet .
Don't forget the bottles behind the bar as well as the beer engines .
Generous portion with the tasty pork roast . Crackling could be crispier but can't fault the dish otherwise.
Proper pub and normally very busy, but worth the fight. Top quality garden at the back.
Good beer and wine selection . Also cracking bite to eat.
Decent beer garden out the back.
Food nice but expensive . Staff lovely but a bit too laid back .. was good till a load on dirty mouthed alchys come in being loud and abusive . Staff could have sorted it
Great cock available if you look in the right places.
Dead on a Sunday evening but otherwise a quality pub with a nice garden .
Ridiculously slow service even when it's half empty. Being ignored by 4 members of staff when I walked in didn't help either. Foods okay though, just don't expect a quick meal
Gorgeous guests
Update on the service 18 months later: somehow it has managed to get slower.
Local bru is somethin u don wanna mis
It's empty!!
Nice staff, prices have been reduced to a more reasonable level. Nice atmosphere. Bread, houmus and oils are lovely. - Sarah Maguire
Great spot that serves Erdinger on tap - always a winner. Live music on a Thursday night. Watch the level of the beer - it can sometimes be a little lower than it should. - Alex H
St Alban's greatest selection of real ciders. Traditional bare floor board pub. Great real ales. - Carl Griffin
The beer is nice, the garden is great and the atmosphere always a joy whether Monday or Friday. - Dharyll Ryce
Really friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, quirky building with history. Great pub :) - Sarah Maguire
Pizza I had was good and I was with a large group and all seemed to enjoy the food - Seamus McQuaid
