The hours-long line that forms every morning alongside Aaron Franklin’s turquoise-trimmed pilgrimage site may be more famous than the food itself, but let’s be clear: your wait is rewarded. Read more

Brisket is exquisite. Get both fatty & lean. Worth the wait in line but get there early cuz they run out of ribs & turkey by 1 & pulled pork by 2. Pulled pork & sausage were very good. Perfect bark.

Andres Novoa

You can place a preorder about a month in advance by emailing them (check the website for the date/time specifics) if you really want to avoid the line . https://franklinbarbecue.com/preorders/

Karen Lin

You can preorder a month in advance but minimum of 5lbs in your order. I highly recommend this option if you can plan this far in advance. I only waited 10 minutes from when they finished prepping.

I've been blessed with many things in this life: A cock like a burmese python, and the mind of a fucking scientist. But never have I ever tasted such wickedly delightful BBQ . Show up early for heaven

Christian B

Brisket , beef ribs and pulled pork were highlights. Best beef ribs I have ever had. Overall best BBQ I have had the chance to enjoy. Well worth the wait. They also had some mini pies that were good.

Linda Hua

Franklin lives up to the hype!! If it’s your first time get there between 10-11am (on weekends). The best ribs and brisket I’ve had yet in Austin. Also order the key lime pie ...you won’t regret it.

Dustyn Winder

Get a bit of everything. The brisket and turkey are life changing. Grab an Austin Beerworks Blood Orange IPA while you wait and a Lone Star to wash it all down. Be happy. You've arrived.

Paul Adw

#FoodPorn lover here : we spent 4 hours waiting outside by 100°F (39°C) and God know I hate waiting. But if I'm honest I have to say : TOTALLY WORTH IT. Get the moist Brisket !

Paige C

Best brisket I've ever had! Their pickles , potato salad and pies were all amazing too. Secret tip: you can call in your order days/weeks in advance and pick it up!

_

Pull out those lawn chairs and crack open some beer because you are going to be there for a minute - and when I say a minute I mean 4-5 hours if you get there at 8am. They open at 11am. Brisket !!!!!!!

Like seeing the Grand Canyon or the Statue of Liberty, everyone should experience the long waits and ample rewards of Franklin Barbecue at least once. Read more

Everything is absolutely amazing. Worth the wait. Try and be there around 8 o’clock on a weekday or order online for the best experience. Pecan pie is crazy good. BBQ sauces are all great.

Ada Warren

Best...brisket...ever...seriously. Born and raised in Texas, and this was the best brisket of my life. I would wait 10hrs for it, but I only had to wait 3. Ribs were crazy good!

JenKudu

SERIOUSLY the BEST BRISKET I've EVER EATEN!!! Talk about a food high afterwards. We went on a Wednesday at 12:20 and sat down with our food at 1:50pm. The sausage is delicious. Pass on the pulled pork

Jess Nichols

You need to be here EARLY - there will be a queue from 7am, even during the middle of winter. Make sure you ask for the fattiest bit of brisket to literally die and go to meat heaven.

Jaclyn R

Best brisket I’ve ever had! Worth the wait but bring chairs/towel to sit and a game. Also can’t go wrong to bring some breakfast tacos while you wait

steen

Get here early or else they do sell out (we lined up at 9 and ate at 1 on a Tuesday). Brisket and Pork ribs are winners and the banana bourbon pie is also a dark horse so get it!!

Serious Eats

All the meats are available as sandwiches , and if you want to go the sandwich route, we suggest the Tipsy Texan , which gives you a pile of beef and sausage along with some kraut in a buttered bun .

David Strasser

You know it's the best in the world. You know to order lots. So here's a tip you can use: be friendly with the people in line , you're going to be spending a good deal of your day together.

hiroticks

Come early. Bring a chair. Bring brews. Talk to the strangers next to you in line , it shortens the wait. Remember the operating hours, and check twitter (@franklinbbq) to make sure they're open.

Guf

Best BBQ in the country . Worth the wait. Bring chairs if you get there after 9 am. Try all the meat. Think 0.5 lbs is perfect per person without sides. Could be 0.75 if literally starving.

Austin Chronicle

You'd better circle the wagons early if you want to snag some of Franklin's world-famous brisket . It has a smoky and spicy bark, a deep smoke ring, and is exceedingly moist and tender. Perfection. Read more

Jeffrey

Tip if you want to skip the line : ask if they have any packaged brisket . You can get 5lbs to feed 10-20 and you can walk right to the front at 10 am. Heat it up at home in a big stock pot.

Marvin Gilbert

The epitome of smoked meats !!! It was well worth the wait. Aaron and his team are the most welcome people I've met in a long time. I will definitely be coming back.

PureWow

This hot spot doesn't open until 11 a.m, but you'll have to line up outside at around 9 to get your hands on a legendary Tipsy Texan--a heaping pile of brisket , coleslaw , pickles and sausage on a bun . Read more

Paul Du

The brisket here is the truth ... Make sure to try their superb pulled pork ... Talk to the chair guy he's super cool, down to earth and will recommend awesome spots to check out in ATX

ᴡ mcgee

So far, the BEST BBQ ! Ribs fall off the bone, best fatty brisket (get the two meat plate), sweet tea , & if you want your meal in one, get the Tipsy Texan . Worth the 2-3hr wait. Too late, keep waiting!

Joan Park

the brisket and sausages are a must, the ribs are also amazing but pulled pork wasn't too memorable. crazy talk but it's true--the 5+ hour long wait is worth it.

Amaury J

Hands down best meat I've ever had in my whole life. All of it! The brisket was out of this world. The staff puts the heart and soul into this place and you can taste it.

Melissa Drake

1000% worth the wait.. Now I know why it's called a rite of passage. Best brisket in the world.. I don't know if I'll ever be able to eat BBQ again.. And it didn't hurt that the people are so nice!

emily chen

Got here at 7:40AM on a Saturday and waited until 1:15 to finally order. The brisket is pretty amazing and a whole different level... 100% worth it. Enjoy the whole tailgating/waiting experience too.

Brian Herschaft

Brisket is something you obviously have to get but don't let that pulled pork and sausage slip your mind. The LITERALLY pork melts in your mouth and the sausage has incredible flavor!

Kevin Skobac

If you're there on Saturday arrive 4 hours early, bring blankets and snacks , and treat it like a tailgate party. Then get hungry, eventually order everything, and pig out happily!

Anthony Montenegro

It's all good, but brisket all day long! Get there early and pitch a chair. Try to go when there's not an event in town (SXSW) to knock an hour or two off the wait. Consistently magnificent.

Jeighsen ®

When they say keep Austin Weird just come here and view the people in line aound 10:30. You won't be disappointed. And the food is amazing as well . Also CNN was here on October 9, 2012 filming .

Nicole McAfee

It's well worth the wait. We arrived at 8:30 on a Friday, and about 50 people were already in line . Get the brisket , and the sausage is pretty solid. The sides are fantastic in their own right! Enjoy!

Social News Network

This place is well worth the wait. There is a line starting early in the morning for a reason. It is some of the best barbecue out there and certainly the best place to go in all of Texas.

Pedro T

Love the brisket , some of the best I've ever had! Also really enjoyed the sausage with cheese and jalapeños !

Andrew Sanderson

Some of the best BBQ around, but consider how many other Amazing BBQ joints around The capital of Texas you could drive to in the time it would take you. saint sauce be with you.

Monica Desai

Brisket is truly next level, and pulled pork is insanely juicy. You barely even need the delicious sauce. Exceeds the hype

Marion

I got on line at 10:15am on a Tuesday and sat down with my BBQ at 1:05. Totally worth it. Remembering the ribs and brisket brings a tear to my eye.

Eater

They produce what has quickly become one of Austin's, if not Texas', most talked-about barbecue . It's so good they regularly run out of meat shortly after opening: get there early. [Eater 38 Member]

Bria Langer

Best barbecue I've ever had in my entire life and I'm approaching 30 and from Nebraska. (I've had aplenty) WORTH THE WAIT. The brisket is insane.

Snooty Waiter

Get there before 7:45am so you can be in the shade, under the building while you wait. Bring a chair, bring water, bring beer , bring a snack ...yes a snack . You'll be waiting for 3 plus hours.

Gen Martinez

Get it line EARLY!!! I was there at 9am and already a line around the building. So bring some shade, and charge your phones it's gonna be a lil while!! SO WORTH IT THOUGH!!!

Jeremy Peronto

Don't fight the hype. It's SO good. The line sucks, but it's an experience. I loved the ribs , the brisket , and all the damn sides.

ArtJonak

Originally a trailer, this brick-and-mortar BBQ in East Austin has super-fine brisket plus pulled pork and other exceptional simple smoked meats . Opens at 11 am and closes whenever the eats run out.

Thrillist

The lauded 'Q trailer has just gone brick 'n mortar, adding a third monstrous 12ft smoker and slinging their Meyer all-natural Angus out of an interior that actually harks back to the trailer days. Read more

Ariel Steinlauf

Everything's so good it's hard to recommend any one dish... Go for the two-meet for variety or try the Tipsy Texan . Also, don't forget to leave some room for the amazing banana pie !
