Bak Chor Mee (minced pork noodles ). Tasty serving from Yong Xin #01-39. Nothing handmade but all ingredients/portions combined well . Lots of 'la pok' (fried pork lard cubes) to lift flavour
Claypot dish with rice . Yu Fa Claypot Delights #01-25 offers a multitude of dishes heated in claypot , & eaten with rice . Enjoyed my salted vege with steamed braised pork
Fishball noodles . Zoomed in on locals' fave, Chia Keng #01-11. Tasty, generous dish. A tad salty but u can always ask for moderation
Lor Mee . Ang Mo Kio Loh Mee • Laksa #01-17 has a sublime Lor Mee sauce, not diluted & retaining full flavours. Ingredients were generous too; the pork slices were thick! No crispy bits though
Fried bee hoon . Bin Fen #01-03 appears to be the more popular economic bee hoon stall among residents. Noodles were moist & flavourful. Chilli is nasi lemak style — sweet. Fried chicken decent
Mee Rebus. Rahim Muslim Food #01-01 continues to dish out SG’s best. Yummy gravy . Die-hard fans zoom to this corner of the hawker centre for their fixes
Fried carrot cake . 339 AMK 01-14 serves up very crumbly type of chai tow kway . But overall, the dish is tasty
Economic bee hoon . This combo $4.10 from Hua Hua #01-38. Fried bee hoon had lots of beansprouts. But cooking untidy: messy fried egg ; fried chicken wing part was oily & had soot from oil. Chilli spicy
Curry chicken noodles . Enjoyed a satisfying creamy bowl from 453 Ming Sheng #01-36. Thick savoury curry gravy
Mee rebus. When Rahim (along the same row) is closed, Fully Good Food #01-15 offers a decent fix. Gravy is aromatic and not as sweet
Bak kut teh . Seng Kee #01-31 prepares peppery BKT soup that leaves a numbing aftertaste. $5.50 for their smallest bowl + rice
I grew up here and the Seng Hock Bak Ku Teh has been the favourite of this place for nearly 3 decades now. Affordable and really good.
Try Bencoolen Cooked Food #01-217 prawn noodle . Good soup and crunchy noodles . The prawns are fresh too
#01-09 Ma Bo serves different varieties of lor mee and laksa . Upsized $4
Stall 01-15 FULLY GOOD FOOD. $3 portion, soup bland????, otherwise ok. Once is enough for me. It serves mee rebus too, which also seems popular with patrons around here????
Wash basins at the side facing Blk 449 (opposite side of wet market )
Sunday evening 6pm. 80% of stalls are closed. Alternative food options nearby: McDonald's @Blk 448, S11 @Blk 450 & Badaling kopitiam @Blk 446
Morning food: 96 Mee Siam , mee rebus/prawn mee, Chia Keng Mee pok , AMK lor mee/laksa is all good
Wantan mee . Below average plate from Hock Thye #01-05. Wantan skins were thick, making it harder to bite. Noodles were starchy with a sticky after-taste. Char siew slices were decent though
Stall at Corner end, Yong Xin. (Facing shops) $3.50. Tasty noodles . 7/10
Must try the Organic Soya Milk here! Healthy and lots of varieties to choose from. The skin of the soya bean has been removed. Hence pple with gout also can drink! They sell in sachets too!
UOB ATM at Blk 449, directly opposite the food centre
The Tau Huey and Lemon Chicken Rice is good. But in the afternoon, they always run out of chicken for the lemon chicken rice .
Bak chor mee (minced pork noodles ). Boring bowl from Poh Hua #01-23. Minimal ingredients, lacking aroma
Love the kway chap beside the soya bean stall, the wanton noodle facing the temple , the fried carrot cake and lots more!!!
