Wantan mee : Tasted strong hints of fried shallots in 1st mouthfuls fr Hong Chang 鴻晶雲吞麺 #01-21. Similar to Indomie Mi Goreng instant noodles :-) Generous char siew & vege . Wantans just right 4 price
Seafood white bee hoon . Unique & clean-tasting dish from Joyous Seafood White Bee Hoon 01-41. The standard order here is la-la (clam ) + sliced fish white bee hoon . Min order $5. Generous with vege !
Xi Xiang Feng Yong Tau Foo at #01-23 is my always go-to place. I always end up over-ordering. The soup is an umami bomb, full of sweetness and flavours. Be prepared to queue though!
Gado gado . Yunus & Family #01-01. As yummy as the photo shows. If u decide on their special Gado Gado Tarik, u hv a choice of chicken , beef or mutton satay meat
Rice porridge . Those prepared by Seng Bee Congee 01-32 were forgettable. While yutiao (fried dough fritters ) were crispy , ingredients were meagre for $3.50 bowl (only 3.5 meat slices for pork congee )
Finally tried the long queue Yong Tao Fu. Soup was sweet! Sauce was nice and the fried stuff were re-fried n hot, which made it nice. Depends on individual if the queue is worth the wait.
Yong tau foo : The selection of YTF items @ Xi Xiang Feng #01-23 is amazing! Many I dun find anywhere else. Items costs 40-cents to $1. Home-made soup stock tastes yummy
Vegetarian options : fried carrot cake (chai tow kway ), gado gado , beancurd , cheng tng & other local desserts , fruits , yong tau foo , chee cheong fun , yam cake , chwee kueh, vegetarian beehoon , prata
The teochew fish noodle / porridge stall @#01-35 is recommended. The fish is fresh and she will weigh every amt of fish to ensure correct amt of fish everytime. Soup was good too.
Fried carrot cake : Lim Hai Sheng #01-09. Tasty but not outstandg. 4 dis style (egg layered evenly @ top & bottom of serving), better 1 is @ Toa Payoh Lorong 1 Blk 126 FC. Psst! They open aft 8am :-P
Duck rice/noodles: Duck slices fr Ban Chuan #01-19 were thick & well-cooked; none of the gamey taste. My noodles bowl had lots of taugeh (bean sprouts ). Even found pcs of la pok (fried pork lard )
Wantan mee . Can’t go wrong with predictable taste from islandwide chain Pontian Wanton Noodles #01-16. $3 for this serving of 4 wantans (2 boiled, 2 fried), char siew & vege slices
Dry Mee Sua . The “signature” bowl from #01-17 is basically bak chor mee (minced meat noodles ) with 2 factory-made meatballs , 2 factory-made fishballs. Tasty if u r in a hurry
Satay . Get yours from Yunus N Family #01-01. 70-cents per stick, with a choice of chicken , mutton & beef . We enjoyed the juicy, smoky flavours ????????
Tau huay (beancurd ) shootout. Sampled Soyfresh #01-13 (left) & Whampoa Soya Bean #01-38. Preferred Whampoa for its silkier, more fragrant recipe. Syrup was less sweet too
Bak chor mee (minced meat noodle ) fr Hup Hup #01-39. What stands out 4 me is the signature mushroom sauce - strong & tasty. Not sure what the tasteless fried discs do, other than add to the carb count
Happy Garden (幸福園)prawn noodle . Queued on a Sunday 1+pm and only left with normal prawn noodles . Like the soup base. Prawn was normal. After my lunch , everything was sold out...
Kopi. Fragrant local coffee from Sands Coffeearoma #01-18. Surprising find since most residents queue up at Long Quan Cha Shi at another row
Braised duck rice . Duck meat from Sin Choon #01-26 was tasty although it felt overlooked. Soup was herbal but salty. Stall also sells kway chap
Chicken rice . You can get a balanced meal from Seng Bee #01-31. Their $4.50 set comes with a plate of vege & a bowl of vege soup . Chicken meat was not plump though
Sliced fish mee sua soup . The preparation from 01-40 was unimpressive for me. Soup base had no fish stock flavours in it
Personally recommend a duck rice stall #01-26 for everyone to try . Good food with affordable price and is good!
Eat char siew rice using chopsticks from Taste the Kwang’s Black. Cumbersome way to eat but don’t take it out on the workers at the stall for not having forks & spoons; the owner wants it this way
Fried kway teow : Can taste d 'wok hei' fr stall #01-28. Shiok man! Made even tastier w fried pork lard cubes (bak pok)
潮州魚丸(beside Pontian) fishball noodles wasn't nice. Told them twice w/o vinegar but in the end still added in n had to ask to redo on the spot.
Fried Kway Teow (located opposite Seng Bee Chicken Rice store) is delicious!
Seng bee chicken rice set cost $4.50 with ah char and veg . I change to drumstick and the cost went up to $6 and no ah char smore bcos boss says so
Lots of varieties and good local food, prawn noodles , fried rice cakes , oysters omelette , Satays etc
New white bee hoon stall. Tried the prawn which comes with lala. Tasty but might be too ex.
The 成美 porridge not bad... Will eat this stall whenever feel like eating porridge . Even good for toddlers but need to mention to them not to add anything since it's for kids...
#01-26 sinchoon duck rice . The duck rice and kwaychap is our weekly brunch for more than 10 years!
Nice & value for money buns here - 1.20 each or 3 at $1 each. The apple bun is especially delicious.
Xi Xiang Feng yong tau fu the best!!! Thick and robust soup !! One of the best yong tau fu soup around !!! Must try !!!
The Xi Xiang Feng Yong Tau Hu #01-23 is the best 酿豆腐 in SG. But go early and they close in evenings.
Mee soto n Mee rebus still e best in Singapore. Enjoy!
The satay beehoon @ #01-12 is no longer nice. Seems like the chef has changed...
ATMs. Cash machines all around. Blk 712: DBS/POSB, OCBC, UOB; Blk 710A: Maybank; Jubilee Sqr: UOB
The congee stall at #01-32 is good! It's not watery and some are priced $2.50. Value for money indeed!
I will rate kway chap from Sin Choon 新春 6/10. The duck meat is the best of all. Perhaps going for the duck rice will be a wiser choice.
Prata . Al Zamira 01-04 makes good pratas . Fresh, chewy. Pity their curry lacks a zing; it's very bland, almost non-existent taste
Mingji wanton noodle was normal, but the soup wasn't tasty and so was the wonton . Centre Satay Beehoon was good in the past, but standard has dropped. Beehoon was not tasty even with the satay sauce .
Try duck porridge from Sin Choon #01-26
The vegetarian stall on the outside row is really value for money
E pontian wantan noodle is yummy!e ice breaker fruit juice stall is cheap n nice!!:p
Duck rice set at $3.00.. Great value !
雙魚麵線 isn't tasty, same goes for the soup . Surprisingly fried fish was okay.
Xi Xiang Feng Yong Tau Foo !! Request for their laksa edition... Very nice after all these years!!
Most of the fruit stall do not have "peach " juice but this impression me that they do sell it..MUST try!! Very nice smell & tasty as well :)
The Mee Soto & Gado Gado here are Legendary!! The Rojak sauce at the Indian stall is good too
the chicken rice here is yummy!!! always longQ... try e fried toufu too!!! slurp slurp!!
