Edgar's Cafe originated on the former site of the Brennen Mansion located on 84th street between West End Ave and Broadway known as Edgar Allan Poe Street. Edgar Allen Poe resided there from March 1844 to August 1845 at which time he wrote and gave to American literature "The Raven".

Badly roasted coffee or careless brewing? Brackish bitter flavored espresso . They serve it with lemon peel. Little do they know why.
Their omelettes are excellent, especially with goat cheese , and the coffee is delicious. Seats outside are well shaded and are comfortable even on hot days.
Great Sunday brunch . French toast & Salmon Sandwich are must haves.

The tiramusu is delicious! It's a cute cozy place not too far from central park . It's candle lit .

The owner ruins everything. $5 minimum for everyone, even if the place is empty and you want to split a slice of cake ; cash only ; two people can't ever sit at a four-top. Spend your money elsewhere.

Grumpy owner with whom we had to insist 5 minutes to have the right to share the bill between attendees .. and cash only ... Aren't we the customers ? Overall cold ambiance. Not worth the detour.
