One of Scotland’s most perfectly preserved castles. It began as a simple tower-house residence. Gradually, over time, it developed into a complex of structures & spaces, as subsequent owners attempted to improve its comfort and amenity. As a result, there are many nooks & crannies to explore.

Loved it! One of the few that weren't altered , you can just see and appreciate where it sits at now. Endless maze of stairs that can keep you busy for about an hour if not too crowded !
Craigmillar Castle is one of Edinburgh's little hidden gems . Without sections converted into gift shops and cafes , Craigmillar has a more authentic feel as a preserved piece of history.
Amazing Castle in the countryside. Great landscape on the sea side , a pity for the opposite side which has an industrial estate . Tickets are around 5£ but it definitely deserves a visit.
What a beautiful, quiet , non-crowded castle (much better than Edinburgh Castle , in my opinion). Truly explore and discover all the nooks.
A super place to bring children who can easily explore. We'll worth going to the roof for the 360 view !
Wonderful place to wonder around. In some nice parkland.
Such a beautiful and quiet place . A goo place to experience history without big crowds.
Maybe the best castle near Edinburgh. Far less crowded , mostly intact.
Smaller than Edinburgh Castle but still well worth visiting
Very nice castle , like Oreshek castle in St. Petersburg
Smaller than Edinburgh Castle but still worth the visit
In 1566, Mary Queen of Scots convalesced at Craigmillar after suffering an abdominal haemorrhage at Jedburgh. She now wanted to divorce Lord Darnley, but her nobles signed a bond to murder him.

Lieu de résidence Marie Stuart l ’endroit est aussi connu sous le nom de Little France, car il abritait la cour française de la reine Marie d’Écosse. Des ruines superbes plein de coins et recoins
Very nice castle near Edinburgh! Krásný, členitý hrad na předměstí Edinburghu. Vypadá nenápadně, ale stojí za návštěvu!

Lovely NTS property near Musselburgh. Cafe is small but good quality. Two pounds to park but no entrance fees. Great walks round the estate. - Rob Innes
Сам парк - просто большой холм с несколькими тропинками и замком. Замечательный вид во все стороны - Denis Akhapkin
Amazing place with a magnificent view. Tiring to get up (specially if you are a smoker) but so rewarding in the end - Lef Germenlis
