백운봉암문은 백운대(白雲臺)와 만경대(萬景臺) 사이 해발 725미터 안부에 위치하고 있으며, 북한산성 성문 가운데 가장 높은 곳에 자리하고 있다. 현재 위문(衛門)이라고도 부르고 있는데, 이는 일제강점기 때부터 불리기 시작한 이름으로 그 유래가 명확하지 않다.

A postern located in the eastern section of Bukhansanseong (Fortress), Baegunbongammun (literally "Dark Gate of White Clouds Peak") was built in 1711 to coincide with the completion of the fortress.
白雲峰暗門은 白雲臺와 萬景臺 사이 鞍部에 位置하고 있으며, 北漢山城 城門 가운데 가장 높은 곳에 자리하고 있습니다. 衛門이라고도 부르고도 있는데, 이는 日帝時代 때부터 불리기 시작한 이름이라고 합니다.
이곳 백운봉암문에서 백운대까지는 0.3km, 용암봉 아래 북한대피소까지는 1.4km 그리고 진관동쪽 북한산성탐방지원센터까지는 3.8km, 우이동쪽 백운대탐방지원센터까지는 1.8km 거리입니다.
백운봉 등산 정말 힘드네요! ㅎㅎ 중반 이후부터 계속 가파른데다가, 마지막 코스는 암벽 등반 수준이기 때문에 마음 단단히 먹고 올라가세요. ^_^ 모두 파이팅! ㅋ
