For the last 11 years the MTA's Transit Museum has been doing its part to give big & small kids a bit of model fun with its annual train show— click the link to see the train in action on Gothamist! Read more

The annual holiday train show is in at the moment. Might be subtle but really nice to check out! 2 level rails running through miniature Manhattan. Complete with King Kong :)

Tatyana Fisher

Do not confuse the Annex with the actual museum in Brooklyn. The latter one is very hands on, child friendly and a must see by any transportation lover:)

The small gallery near Grand Central Station explores the origins of New York’s elaborate transportation system through rotating exhibits .

Mat Thies

Nice little "museum ". Its more of a gift shop . But not a bad way to kill a few minutes if you find yourself in Grand Central.

Check out the amazing conductor collection of items left by commuters. A trip through history

Their decoration for this season is just sooo nice. Stop by if you are in Grand Central.

Check out Hiroyuki Suzuki's photos of the Eastside LIRR project and marvel at the scale of the undertaking. Tunnel boring machines: not as boring as they sound!

Interesting introduction to the actual museum . Check out their souvenir shop.

Back to middle of station? Looking for fresh eats and yummy treats? go behind the other grand staircase and enjoy the market .

small year round exhibit , but very much worthwhile for the holiday train show !

I'll bet that nobody noticed that the typeface used for the London Transport poster show is Johnson Sans, the special London Transport typeface.

Aleksandr Kalininskiy

This is not the actual museum (which is in Brooklyn). Just an annex with a decent gift shop and a few minor subway art things.

Quick way to see a featured transit exhibit without trekking out to Brooklyn

Rude security staff . No strollers allowed? They actually said "it's not our problem your kid is sleeping" to my friend who had a baby.
