Lanikai Pillboxes Hike is a hiking trail Kailua located in United States.
Kaelepulu Dr (at Aalapapa Dr) Kailua , HI 96744 United States
Compared to Diamond Head trail , this is a shorter hike but the beginning of this trail is steeper and involves more climbing. Stepping sideways when coming down the parts w/ lots of gravel helps a ton
Use actual hiking shoes ! My Nike Free running shoes were slipping all over the rocks and made this a somewhat challenging climb to the pillboxes.
Keep hiking past the two pill boxes to avoid the crowds and take in the scenic views . Wear hiking boots if possible, but sneakers at the very least.
Worth getting up early to do a sunrise hike here! Absolutely gorgeous. Short hike , but steep. Be careful if it’s been raining, as the trail will be quite slippery.
The hike is a bit challenging meaning that it's steep, but it's not a long hike . The view here though is awesome! So it's definitely worth it!
pretty quick hike up to the first pillbox affording nice views of the ocean as well as the valley
Tricky to find the start of the trail but well worth the slightly difficult hike up to the pillboxes for an amazing view . Def not for slipper wearers!
'This photo was taken at the Lanikai Pillboxes. I suggest the nearby Olomana trail for people that aren't afraid/skilled enough for it. Absolutely incredible.' – Submitted by Bernie W. on Facebook
The trek up to the first bunker is the hardest part. Going to the second bunker is much easier. Just take your time, watch your footing, and you'll be fine. Enjoy the views !
Pretty steep incline for the first little bit but views are gorgeous. Lots of slippery gravel so don't wear flip-flops.
This is a must-do hike ! It's easy, short , and the view is incredible!!
If you are up for an early hike , get your a... up ther to enjoy an unforgettable sunrise...
Easy hike but i suggest shoes , if the trail is wet it can be pretty slippery.
Be adventurous and hike past the second bunker . It make the hike to be a better workout and provides a different view of Kailua.
Super fun moderate hike but too crowded . But the view is still breathtaking.✨
Fantastic views ...even on a cloudy day
If you want to take a photo, I prefer the first pillbox ..
The hike is short and sweet but make sure you watch your step coming down. It can be deceivingly slippery when it's super dry.
Have water and make sure you bring a camera .. If you have any food, make sure you leave some for pele at her chair ;)
If you're planning to catch the sunrise be sure to bring a flashlight & don't forget the camera !
Super cool place for the first hike in Kailua.
Short hike but steep. Beautiful payoff at the top. Don't wear slippers (or as us mainlanders call them flip flops).
Great Simple hike to view Kailua from the Marine Corps Base all the way to Makapuu.
Go early. Go hard. Hot chicks that hike are everywhere.
Moderately easy. Parking is tough these days
Good workout! My 3 year old made hiked this!
Police are now ticketing and towing cars that park by the 1' wall on the road up.
View is amazing!
Dont wear easy tones or anything with a balls on the bottom of your shoe . Unless your experienced.
The perfect sunrise hike !
Wear sneakers . Go for sunrise - its a MUST!
Catch a beautiful sunrise up here. Its worth the workout... wear your trail shoes and save your ankles!
The view is much better up here. The trek between the 1st and 2nd pillbox is not bad at all.
Awesome view .
bring water
GO FOR IT, up...up...don't give up !
Enjoy a nice short hike with an exceptional view !
Wear shoes !
Easy uphill hike if it's not too wet
don't wear slippers, the first part is kinda steep and lots of gravel .
great prep for other hikes like Olomana , Koko Head & even Diamond Head.
Lots of gravel , tread cautiously.
頂上からのサンライズは、息を飲む程Beautiful!!!
めっちゃ滑るのでビーサンでは無理。
