Heritage begins at the state capitol building . Beautiful Neoclassical design by Thomas Jefferson, I like their underground entrance and visitor center. Neat little area midst the bustle of downtown.
Go to the Historic Bell Tower, and you'll find informative, friendly staff to set you on your way for Richmond highlights. They also sell Virginia & Richmond souvenirs. :)
Used in Speilberg's Lincoln as a substitute for the White House, the Capitol is where VA governors are inaugurated. Douglas Wilder, the first African-American Governor in the US, was sworn in here.
Great tour through the Capitol. Pleasant staff/volunteers to help with Richmond and VA guide information inside the BellTower.
