Top notch French food in DC. While the place is huge and they serve a ton of people each night, somehow they are able to maintain the intimacy and flare that the place deserves.

If you like foie gras , the mousse is fabulous. 1 order is plenty for 2 or more. Steak frittes, trout almondine, beef bourgonion.. all superb. Creme brulee is perfection. Take out orders at the bar .

Adam Fine

Love the decor! They were able to accommodate my vegan diet with the saldade a la grecque and the garden pot au feu. The bread is amazing and the waiter gave me olive oil for it without me even asking

Enryqwe Lopes

Simply amazing, better than Balthazar in NY. The taste delicate, the flavor has balance, all the dish as made for the main ingredient, try the fish , awesome!????????????????????????????????

If there's one thing you want to indulge on, it's the massive Grand Plateau seafood tower featuring rockweed, various oysters , clams , mussels , scallops , lobster , uni, snow & king crab , and shrimp !

Ricardo Diaz

This place worths every dollar. It’s one of the best french restaurants i have tried. The foie gras is simply spectacular. We had lobster risotto , rabbit pasta and snails. This place is a MUST in DC.

I had the poached eggs basquaise, I really liked it. I tried the boudin noir (blood sausage ) which I found quite heavy and too much to finish. Luckily I could take it to go. I would come back.

A7MAD .

Words can't describe this place ????????, everything was tremendous. Burger , Steak , Fries , Shrimp salad and Cream brulee were delicious. Book in advance is better.

Danielle A.

Second visit cleared disappointment from first... The Duck terrine and mussels were excellent and the pastry basket so fresh. I also love the fact that they make doggie biscuits for visiting pups.

Briana Bailey

The large seafood platter ! Shared it between five people with some hors d'oeuvre such as mac and cheese , steak tartare , and goat cheese ravioli . Wait staff was tentative and everything was good.

Caitlin Schiavoni

I got the steak au poivre (cooked rare, it's the only way) and it pretty much melted in my mouth. Outstanding. Escargots were delicious, bread was awesome, service was on point and stellar.

❀mihoko❀

Freshest Bread was impressive to start with.Escargots, Foir Gras, Lamb Shank , Braised Duck . All Delicious. Great ambient, reminding us brasserie in Paris. Sat by window. Breeze was extra bonus. Merci!

Anna Rossi

At last, Paris in DC. For an education on everything off the vine, pull Erik the sommelier aside for a rec. Don't let his young looks fool you- his passion for fine wine is off the charts.

Marjahn Golban

By far some of the best food I've had in DC! The macaroni is amazing and the lamb was the best I've had anywhere ever. Make sure you get a reservation at least 3 weeks in advance to get an ideal time.

José Javier González

I really enjoyed my visit for brunch to this place. The cappuccino is great. I got the Eggs Benedict with Pommes Lyonnaise and they were awesome!

Sheila Lampitoc

Went here for my birthday dinner . Mushroom tart was flaky and flavorful. I had the steak frites - steak was so tender and juicy and the fries had the right crunch. Great service and really good food!

Diana Brody

Like a Parisian bistro out of a fantasy without feeling cloyingly on-the-nose/cookie cutter. The food delicious and rich, the wine lovely, the servers equally friendly , knowledgeable , and posh.

Karen Cooper

Foie gras , trout , beef tartare & crème brûlée were DELICIOUS! Take your time here, it's not for quick meals . The patio was a perfect replica of French café terraces - love, love, love!

Washington Post

Critic Tom Sietsema was "most surprised by Le Diplomate’s reliability" saying it's one of the hardest qualities to achieve. 265 seats w/ patio . 25 cooks are behind the scenes here. 3/4 stars. Read more

one of my new favorites. everything is to die for. favorites: foie gras , escargots , tuna carpaccio , mussels and fries , creme brûlée . cranberry bread is a must. still to try the steak tartare .

Curt Sallinger

This is my go-to top restaurant when I'm in DC. Great drinks, fun menu, sharp staff . Today was our first brunch visit - that bloody Mary was notable!

Yong Kwon

Always a solid bet. Good food + vibes. Great for hosting out of towners. Not so great on the wallet but c'est la vie

Norman Ellis

Lovely spot for Brunch especially if you're in from out of town and want to avoid the touristy areas. The foie gras parfait was sinfully delish and large enough for 2 or 4 to share. Bon appetit!

Silene Lim

I had the onion soup which is a must. It's cheesy and full of flavor. For entree I had the Coq Au vin which was on the salty side, especially after onion soup . Service is impeccable.

Amy ✈️

This place is packed & for good reason! Great food & service! Little pricey but good size portions, we shared the steak frittes so we could also have escargots , cheese & the amazing bread & butter!

Ana Marie ????

Lobster Risotto on Tuesdays only, so good. Warm shrimp salad , steak tartar , scallops are all so tasty. Finish off with the creme brûlée and mint chocolate chip gelato .

Karen Elizabeth

Bread is amazing. Don't let your dining partner steal all the cranberry walnut ! Be sure to indulge in the foie gras parfait , lemon confit or dark chocolate napoleon .

Masha Tatianina

Great food and great service. Looks like Pastis in NYC. I tried foie gras and lamb shank - both amazing. Beef Bourguignon was so-so, but I would definitely come back to try other dishes.

ECS

Most authentic pimms cup in the city paired with the baguette Provençal and you can enjoy an afternoon with a quintessentially English drink paired well with French fair . Love.

Bill Fischer

Love it here. Wait staff is on. One complaint is the hostess station is never smiling or never seem nice. 3rd time here and the lead hostess (dark hair) looks so unhappy. Btw, onion soup - love. :)

Marwan Mz

Amazing spot .. huge menu .. friendly staff .. i tried their sweet options and they were amazing chocolate cake and tiramisu plate

Washington Post

Le Diplomate, under the care of executive chef Adam Schop, executes a perfect omelet , an expert steak au poivre , a divine apple tart , everything delivered by some of the best servers in the city .

The fastest service for the most delicious French food !! Try the steak au poivre and roast chicken ... And the Brussel sprouts and the macaroni au gratin !! I'm sure everything is terrific !

Tia Delay

This place is such a vibe. Cozy , chic and tasty. Plentiful option on menu, the Terrance seating is heated, during winter and it’s a beauty! 10/10

The Burger Américain is just fantastic. From the bun , to the beef , to the cheese , everything is perfect.

Morgan Thomas

Not only is the food delicious, but the service is great. Get the Marconi and cheese , and enjoy (or take home) those starter pastries during brunch ..

Marc Junior

This is a very chic & Slick place. I highly recommend this place for anyone in DC. (I don’t usually write reviews but I feel compelled to write this one, Thank me later lol).

Matt Shobe

Buzzing scene on Sunday afternoons. I think even sociopaths will enjoy the bar scene. Try the onion soup , it's a gold standard – and you don't even have to call it "French". (They know.)

Jillian Michelle

Brunch was amazing. The eggs are well prepared and the French toast was perfection. Service was good quality as well . I felt like I had left DC for France

Andy Fang

One of the top five restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining. Make reservations or belly up to the bar before the dinner rush!

megan dunn

The escargot and steak tartare were to die for! And if you like a creme brûlée with a strong vanilla flavor , this is for you.

The brunch is everything you could want and more. Get the pastry basket. Bacon is otherworldly good, and you get a ton.
