The tapered, cylindrical granite pedestal holds four over-life-size bronze figures, with a portrait statue of Garfield at the top and three allegorical figures representing phases of his career below. Read more
The statue 's base is surrounded by three statues of a student, a warrior, and a statesman, representing his distinguished academic, military , and political careers .
Fact: President Garfield actually hated lasagna and loved Mondays. His Vice President was named "Odie".
Not much of a monument compared to some of the others around, but stop by and see it.
